Update Attempt is hot mess. White screen on a DAZ I can't uninstall...

I've been using DAZ for years. So, I recently tried to first update DAZ using DAZ Central  (I will never do that again, this is the second problem i've had with DC) this ended up with me getting the white screen issue upon opening the program (which is still 4.15 even after the "update" installs). I know for a fact that DAZ was not open during the update. I tried just about everything on the forum pages and nothing has worked. Finally I decided to do a complete uninstall and re-install. The problem is, I can not uninstall the program with either DAZCentral or DAZ Install Manager. As you can see, when I try to uninstall in DAZCentral it goes to Uninstalling 86% and completely stops dead every time I try. OK, when I try it in Install Manager it says it is uninstalling but gets completely stuck at 0%. Keep in mind with Install Manager everytime I go into DIM it gives me the list below that needs to be installed and I let it install them.(See PIC) Even right after it finishes installing if I say to uninstall it just sits at 0% forever. The same thing happens everytime I go into DC as well. It says I need to install DAZ as well, and even when I finish that, it still can't uniinstall. Here's the fun part,  if I try to go into my Control Panel and uninstall the Daz Studio program through Windows, it says that Daz Studio is not an installed program, even though I can still launch the exe and run the program (the old version with the white screen) whiile it is telling me that! I'm stumped. All I know is that I have a version of DAZ stuck on my computer that I can't use, I can't update, and I can't uninstall....

Any help would be appeciated, cause I have some DAZ things to do.LOL Thanks.

  • It's perhaps a side issue, but did you check Daz Studio was not running in the background via Task Manager before installing the update or did you just look at the Task Bar, or the main applications list in Task Manager? Daz Studio can take a while in the background tidying up after vanishing from the main application list (Task Bar etc.)

Unfortunately it does sound as if soemthing has become locked, rather than suggest various nuclear options which may make matters worse I am going to point you to support - they may be able to give you some more concrete help https://www.daz3d.com/help .

OK, I got everythinig working and the 4.16 version is working 100% fine. All of my contect is still there too. Unfortunately, like so many times when we fix something on our computers, I am not entirely 100% sure of how I fixed it LOL. I did another restart. After it came back up, neither DC or DIM said that I had DAZ Studio installed in any way. (The old malfunctioning version was still there and working though ?). Both were prompting me to install. There was no way in heck I was gonna try anther download from DC, so I took the little install prompt window from DIM and clicked on that like I did before. This time it seemed like a lot of things happened during this install that had not happened before (for example the install actually started from zero where it had not done that before). In any event, all seems well and running at this time. So, thanks....

My god I friggin hate updates of ANYTHING on my computer. LOL angry
