Export Model and keyframe Issue

I was experimenting with some animation and forgot to reset to keyframe 1 as I worked on the scene. I realized I was on frame 45 and knew that meant trouble. Especially when I decided I want to export the model ALONE from the scene to render in another program. I'm not sure how big a deal it is but I'm experiencing some strange things when exporting to obj. For example, I deleted the interior scene leaving just the model and even saved the scene. When I import the obj, the model and everything I deleted comes in resurrected from the dead. I'm thinking it's because those things still exist at frame 1....am I right to suspect that?

How do we export a model out of a scene without carrying everything else with it? I don't see a "export selected only" option.

How do we save the model with all children including clothes to open in a fresh scene? Saving as a character preset removes all clothes and attachments. I tried saving a Hierarchical pose preset and saw all children elements in the save dialog but when applied to the base character in a fresh new scene, the keyfframe issue came back (1-45 was present again) and none of the attachments showed up on the model (hair, shoes etc.). Am I just screwed on this or is there a way to salvage my pose as is and get it to frame 1 or export it without the extras? Any help or advice is appreciated.

If you delete an item it is deleted throughout the scene, not just in the current frame, so that shouldn't be the issue.

By default the OBJ export options are set to ignore hidden nodes, so anything you don't want should simply have its visibility set to Off (by clicking the eye icon in the Scene pane or by selecting one or more items and using the Visible button in the Display group).

A Scene Subset will allow you to save only some of the currently loaded items - it's in the File>Save as sub-menu.

Thanks for the info. That means something very strange is going on. Why would elements that are deleted show up in an obj export?

It does sound very odd - you are sure they really were deleted, you hadn't accidentally undone the deletion for example?

I was able to revisit the scene and try again making sure I didn't find the deleted objects hidden within other bones. I successfully exported just the models to another render engine via obj. so far. Now to get the pose to frame 1.

When saving a pose preset you can set it to record a range of frames or just the current frame - record just the frames you need, then scroll back to frame zero and apply the preset.
