Best cloud storage to backup all of my Daz3D?

Hi there. I recently had to fly overseas, leaving my computer behind to build a new one. I previously backed up my files to Microsoft OneDrive, however that proved unsucessful. I was missing a significant portion of my catalog and pretty much had to redownload everything from the vendors.I suspect that OneDrive simply doesn't support many files, or that things went wrong with the storage attempts, either way I'd like a service that it easier, more efficient, and proven amongst other Daz users to store all their file types.

What do you recommend? Premium or free is fine, my only real stipulation is needing about 500GB or more.

    Unless there's some really pressing need to store off site, 4Tb externals are only ~ $100 these days. Nor are you limited by bandwidth for uploading or retrieving.

    Your not going to get that much room cheap. Your best bet is to get an external. They make them pretty small now and range in prices. Will be much cheaper for you. As said you can get a small 3-4tb for$100 or less. I think a 1tb goes for $50 on Amazon

    Here is a Western Digital 4TB for $88 as an example.

    Agreed, seeing how daz content is bazillions of small files...cloud backup just seemed ridiculous to me, and I got two externals, as recommended.  I use FreeFileSync to keep them in sync.  Even that takes a very long time to sync.

    I travel a lot and don't like customs agents going through my hard drives. Everything I have is legal, but that's not the point when you're scrutinized at the airport by some mouth breather who's been given complete and unchecked power in the name of "security". I'd rather just not go through that hassle.

    Kind of slow. You can get a 4TB USB 3.2 SSD for $600 and a 4TB USB HDD to clone it too weekly for $88 (as mentioned).

    I haven't tried them all to say which I think is best. I've been using Google Drive's free account, 15G. One can try that and see if it suits. If it does, they have a premium plan:

    Google Drive Premium account allows for 2 TB of storage at $13.99/month. {I'm seeing Canadian prices} Or one can prepay and save 17%, $139.99/year {Canadian prices, American numbers are usually lower}

    Just be SURE and CERTAIN to have up-to-date phone number(s), alternate email addresses etc. for "in case" you get locked out 'cause you forgot your password or something. The whole thing is computerized and if there's nothing for the query to find for responses, you lose it all.

    I owned Dropbox 2TB + Google Drive 2TB for about 5 years. Then I moved to MEGA 8TB (but of course they have plans with much less).

    MEGA's Web Interface is insanely better than both Dropbox or GDrive. Their Windows app is also much better. One can feel they have a long experience in the business.

    And when needed they have big plans (8TB, 16TB) for those who need. When Dropbox and GDrive offer at best 2TB plans for individual users (it's so dumb I can't even understand why !)

    Anyway, after all those years of cloud storage, my advise would be go for MEGA. Most definitely. I pay less there and I get an encrypted cloud content, WAY ! more storage space, for less money. Only disadvantage of MEGA : they are not good with marketing and the web is filled with old info about issues they had a very long time ago and they never took the time to clear the web of this undeserved bad reputation.

    3 years there and so far I never had a single issue. MEGA + Raidrive (to map your cloud storage as a local hard drive letter) and it's paradise on earth ;)

    Cheers.

    N.B : This being said, if you don't have any reason to fear a burglar in your house, going for external Western Digital Hard drives (5TB is about 110 dollars) and FreeFileSync to synchronize the content and always be sure to have a backup is the cheapest and fastest option. I have 2x 5TB + 3x 4TB of USB western Digital hard drives, plugged 24/7 and they work just great.

    Cool, I'll check this out then. My concern is mostly having storage that doesn't need to be physical as I travel frequently and don't want to keep my data there at all times.
