Newbie-ish help?

I am not new to DAZ or 3D, but I am coming back from a long hiatus..so it's basically learning it all over again. I have some questions that I tried to look up, but I get either "nadda nothin found" from the search or I end up in a thread that isn't quite what I was hoping for LOL.
Q1--I have a BUNCH of Genesis stuff. When it came out I was still here and DAZ was very nice to give us lots of free stuff to the PC members that year. I also had the V5 bundle and some other things like the V4 shapes. Question is....does this stuff, like hair and clothes, fit on Genesis 2 without much issue? Just the clothes, hair, etc. Was it supposed to "auto fit" to the G2 female and males? (I like the smart content, but obviously you can't choose G1 stuff when you have G2 selected from that panel, but can I just cram it on them anyway from the other library option?) V4 stuff will fit on G1 and G2 if I have the V4 shape? Or not really? Most poses for G1 work on G2? I remember G1 having foot issues, but that got better, right? I used to have a foot fixer, but I just bought that new pose mixer thing so I hope that helps me out.
Q2--I'm so used to working with "clothing fixes" that I find the new stuff I bought a little irritating to use. Some have movement and pose morphs and most don't. Not like I'm used to in Poser and previous Studio. Would the poser companion files have any of those old "fit tweaks" I am looking for? I'm using Genesis exclusively in Studio and V4 exclusively in Poser Pro....so I didn't put the companion files in studio. Am I just gonna have to live with the poke through or post work it out? Am I missing something? For the most part the stuff does follow, but sometimes in extreme poses it doesn't. What do you do then? Is it better to put the clothes on after you pose a character or before or does it matter? Tips, tricks, in this area are appreciated. It is the one thing that makes me run back to poser LOL.
Q3--Advanced Light Presets for AoA's Lights---does this give you "one click" set ups if you already have the Advanced Lights? They look great, and I got the lights for a steal of a deal, but I totally SUCK at setting up lights. Giving me lights in a box and telling me to put them places? Eh. Not so much. I did ask on the thread about that, but never got an answer. Anyone have these?
Q4--Back in the day Lantios Lights were the best and so was the Light Dome 2 I had. What is out there for Studio Pro these days that is equivalent to that since my Light Dome doesn't work in Studio 4.6 :(
Poser lights have just become easier to me over the years b/c I have so many great sets. I have a lot for studio I recently got, but haven't found what I wanted for Studio. I'm too impulsive for Reality LOL. What do you use? I like mostly HDRI type light I think. Something about that bright white. I mostly do fantasy renders and usually they are outside. I have no limit of backgrounds and sky domes. I have Cloud 9, but sometimes I just can't get it to do what I want. I may just be on light overkill LOL.
PS what happened to the newsletter, do they not send those out anymore?
Thanks so much everyone.

I can only speak for Daz as I don't have poser
but for Q1, I found that move G1 items I have fit G2 without much issue, at least nothing that can't be corrected creatively.
which sort of leads to Q2
In Daz, you can select your item like shirt or pants or whatever. then go to edit -> figure -> geometry -> apply smoothing modifier
Then you can adjust the amount of collision iterations in the properties tab under mesh smoothing.
This solves most pokethrough and for the really stubborn stuff, there's always a product here called pokeaway with will solve the rest :)
Q1: Yes, most older content works fine on Genesis 2. Classic Genesis clothing will autofit out of the box, while V4 and M4 will require the shapes to be purchased separately before their autofit clones will become available.
Q2: Those 'fixes' are unnecessary with Genesis since clothing will automatically reshape to the figure. In the rare case that an extreme morph isn't covered by the clothing, you can often use the smoothing modifier to fix any visible issues.
Q3: Those presets use the Advanced Ambient, Distant and Spotlights to light the entire scene. They're presets so they can be used as standalone's, or edited. Using a preset will replace all lights in the scene with the new preset lighting, and their positions and directions will be set automatically.
I don't often buy lighting presets, as I prefer to do things manually, so I can't really answer Q4.
Ah. Great to know about the smoothing modifier and the pokeaway. I will try the smoothing item next :)
Good to know about the light presets as well!
Thanks :)
I like AoA light sets they are fairly easy to work with and do indeed have presets.I also light the uber light bundle too. A lot of the skydome type products also some with interesting light sets attached so those might be an option too when you see things go on super sale.
