long shadow effect

Any hints on getting a character to cast a long shadow? Just a figure or two, on a flat plane casting a stretched shadow across the floor is what I'm trying to do, but either I have the spotlight in the wrong place or the lighting setting wrong or something.

The light has to have shadows turned on and the height and angle need to be low and shallow to cast long shadows.

    Thanks for your quick reply!
Below is a simple picture I've set up, to show where I have the distant light and spotlight (distant shadow setting is off). I'm trying to get their shadows to stretch across away to the horizon.

Try using Ray Traced Shadows. If the Distant light is to bright it may wash out the shadows created by the Spotlight, turn intensity down to 20% and set it to Diffuse Only.

You were right, my distant light was too powerful it seems.

    Cheers!
