Platinum Club and discounted DAZ items

Hi everyone!
I'm new to this forum and to 3d in general, so I hope that I'm in the right forum for this question..

Currently I am considering to buy the "Victoria 4 3D Model Pro Suite" from the DAZ3d webshop. This seems to be the best value of all the available V4 bundles (currently), because of the 70% off sale. My question is: Do the "Platinum Club" benfits also apply on already discounted items like this bundle?

The reason I am asking is: the bundle itself costs 59.99$ with the 70%-sale. On the PlatinumClub information page it says that PC+ membership will grant "30% OFF all DAZ Original content" [...] "in addition to savings from most other promotional pricing or sales! "
So if my calculations are correct, I would get another 30% off, which would be ~18$ in this case. As a 3month-PC-membership costs 24$, I would effectively only pay 6$ more for a PC+-membership AND the V4 bundle when compared to purchasing only the V4-bundle.

Can someone please confirm that this is correct (and that the PC+ discount also applies on discounted items)? Thanks very much in advance!

In the main discounts do not stack, the cart will apply the largest of the applicable discounts. I see the http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-3d-model-pro-suite at $59.99 as a long term PC member.

Ah, ok, thanks very much for this very useful information. The phrasing "“in addition to savings from most other promotional pricing or sales! “" is still kind of confusing for me, but maybe thats just because English is not my native language. Too bad, would have been a nice deal :)

    Thanks again!

PC+ discount on DAZ Originals usually stacks with sales discount, but there are special "large discount sales" where it doesn't.

No it has nothing to do with your English its a just a bit misleading.

I think all Fast Grab deals exclude that PC+ discount... though some sales - for all customers - do apply on top of the 70% off. You'd have to compare the original price and do some maths every time you visit the shop. $60 for a pro suite is an excellent deal, it doesn't go below that. Consider getting the M4 version too, it has lots of useful items and as you are starting out, you will need many hairstyles, morphs and clothes to develop :).

Thanks very much, Leana, I didnt know that.
I thought, the product page of the disounted items would specify, if the additional 30% discount applies or not, because it says on the product page of PC+ "30% off ALL DAZ 3D owned products. Excludes Platinum Club Plus Items, Gift Cards, Memberships and specific promotions where mentioned"

Since it wasnt mentioned on the V4-bundle-product page that these additional discounts do not apply, I just thought that the discounts would stack.

Hi Cecilia, thanks very much for your reply. While I agree with you, that 60$ is a good price for the bundle, I have the feeling that I won't use much of the included content. In particular, I dont really like most of the included clothing and would probably purchase other items in addition. So it might be a good idea for me to wait until the "V4 Pro bundle" gets a 70% discount, as it includes most of the content I am interested in (V4.2 base, morphs++, hair and some skin textures) and i wouldnt pay for stuff I am never going to use. I'll have to think about it :)

ps. While I am just starting out, I already own a small collection of clothing items for other characters, which I could convert to V4 with Posers fitting room

Well FastGrab is one of the exceptions where the discounts don't stack (I didn't realize that was where the 70% discount was from in your case).
The PC discount would definitely apply to the bundle in "normal cases".

In the few cases where it doesn't stack it's usually is specified on the banner/description for the sale, not on the product pages.

I also didnt realize that the 70% off discount was from a "FastGrab"-deal. I didnt even know that there were "FastGrab"-deals :) It's good to know, that these sales cannot be combined with a Platinum Membership. I still couldnt find anything official about that on the product pages or the fastgrab-sale-description, but I will just believe you :)
I think I won't purchase a Platinum membership for the time being and will further think about getting the V4 Pro suite.

Again, thanks very much to everyone, you were very helpful!

There is another thread where a poster asked why the Platinum Club discount didn't apply to sales like that, because the Platinum Club advertisement said 30% off ALL DAZ Originals on top of any other sale or promotion. The DAZ response was to change "all" to "most", leaving it vague and confusing.

barbult, thanks very much for your reply. I wouldn't have any problem with the fact, that the discounts do not stack, if it would have been made clear in the product description. It even kind of makes sense that discounts do not stack for items which are already 70% off. But if the kind people here in the forum wouldnt have warned me, I would probably have purchased the Premium Membership and I would have felt cheated after the purchase, as it isnt mentioned in the product description that the discounts dont stack.
Now, this intransparent sales strategy kind of makes me NOT want to buy the V4-bundle....

You are unlikely to see it at any better price deal. And FYI the Platinum Club (PC) is the best deal around. When DAZ 3D says it pays for itself they are only being truthful. You do mostly get 30% extra discount on DOs (just not always on items that are already very deeply discounted), plus you get not one but two $6 dollar coupons a month and extra discounts on other things throughout the year. 4 new items at the greatly reduced PC prices every week, a monthly freebie and all this for around $8 a month in subs. It doesn't take a lot of working out to see that is is a very good way to save money.

I still agree that the Platinum Club is a good deal, and I'm signed up until some time in 2016. But it does concern me that DAZ feels they can change the written terms after we have paid our subscription fee, and not offer promised benefits because they are "too busy", as described in another forum thread. However, if I were offered the chance to drop out and get a refund, I wouldn't do it. I still get enough benefit from the club to stay in, just not all the benefit I believed I would get, according to the promises at time of purchase.

chohole, thanks very much for this information. The PC surely is a great deal, but it's not really for me, as I do not own any of the DAZ figures yet and the figure I am interested in is exactly the same price for members and non-members. Thus, I will think about purchasing the V4-bundle and if I do and I like it, I might get a Platinum-Membership at some point.

If you are just starting with DS then you should play around with genesis and Genesis 2 (M & F) as they are free with DS in the Genesis Starter essentials.

V4 is a standalone figure, and is older technology than Genesis.

Thanks again. I probably should have metioned, that I am a Poser user and while I think that Genesis and Genesis 2 are great and gorgeous figures, I do not enjoy using them in Poser, because posing them is very laggy on my computer. That is why I was interested in the V4-bundle.

Ah right. I am used to new users being DS users. V4 is my favourite female, as I too use Poser, although in my case it is rendered in my fave program. I liked V4 from the moment she came out, and you can get a lot of add on stuff for her.

The V4 pro suite is a very good way to get started with her, especially at the price she is at the moment in Fast Grab.

I will definetely think about the bundle :) All the great add-on stuff for her is actually the reason, why I am interested in V4. While my "inner cheapskate" does not really want to pay 60$ for an "old" figure, all those great character addons make it very difficult to not want her in my Runtime :)

I would hate to add up what V4 has cost me since she has been out. :coolsmirk:

BTW a word of warning. with Fast Grab it is better to not take a chance about waiting too long, as sometimes it does indeed change fast, although other times it stays wit a set of offers for some time. It can be very unpredictable.

I agree with chohole. Start with the free Genesis and Genesis 2. Both are newer technology and much easier to work with than V4. There are even some free items in the store that will give you some additional clothing and hair for Genesis 2 male and female.

barbult, thanks for your reply. but as I wrote above, I dont like using Genesis in Poser because it gets very laggy on my computer and posing isnt fun. That is why I am interested in V4, which is supposed to work flawlessly in Poser.

Oh, sorry, I forgot you were using Poser. Yes, I've heard that Genesis technology in Poser can be troublesome. Maybe the V4 product is the one for you. Price is good for so much stuff, but still expensive.
