"Problem running post-install step" "Could not set registry key"

Was attempting to reinstall DazCentral and DazStudio today, but have run into a number of unexpected issues.

I've used both softwares on my comp (Windows 10 64-bit) before with no issue, but to give a basic rundown:

  • Ran into issues with installing specific products (apparently I'm not the only one, so I'll leave this as a relative non-issue compared to the next entries)
  • In order to "fix" the previous issue, I decided to get a clean start... I uninstalled DazStudio and DazCentral again, redownloaded the latter's install file, and started over.
  • Was in middle of installing DazStudio for the second time when BitDefender decided to "disinfect" my computer and quarantined everything related to Daz.
  • Restored the files, made the exceptions, deleted everything, and started the install process over for the third time today (the second install was a goof on my part, I will admit).
  • Near the end of installing DazCentral, I was met with an error message stating the following:
"Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly
Could not set registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft
    \Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\DazCentral (64-bit) 1.5.0.20 NoRepair
    REG_DWORD"
  • After panicking for a bit, I decided to find the registry keys within that described folder. I deleted everything related to Daz, and tried the install process once again.
  • Was met with the same exact message...

I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do now... Apparently, my antivirus really screwed up the whole process...

Edit:

It seems that restarting my PC after making those registry-edits fixed my issue. So I assume it was a combination of the two that worked.
I feel a bit... ridiculous.
That still leaves me with the specific product installation issues (which seem to be plaguing quite a few people at this point), but DazCentral and DazStudio have been successfully reinstalled (despite BitDefender's antics).
What I'm not sure on, however, is if this discussion thread needs to be closed... I'm a bit new to making discussion threads on this site (and made this one in a bit of a panic).
