Another problem with textures.

Sometimes when trying to change a texture I get this grey pattern instead (see picture), even though it's a texture I've used before.I think it might be the DS logo? Any ideas why this happens and how to stop it??

Often this is caused when loading in a non-standard file format (such as a HDR file). However, only the preview in the surfaces tab is affected, and it should look fine in both the preview window and the final render.

Nope, the file is jpeg, and I've used it and others from the same folder, before without problems. For some reason DS is becoming slower and slower and less responsive, mainly in regards to textures. I've tried rendering and get the same grey pattern stretched over the surface, so its not just in the surfaces tab.

Have you tried Refresh Images (Ctrl+i)?

That can help when you are changing a lot of textures. If that fails, set the texture to None, then Browse to the file location again to reload it.

Open that image in an editor and make sure it is RGB, 8 bits per channel.

    Thanks for answering.
JimmyC : I've tried those things, but to no avail. And sometimes when I go to Browse, nothing happens.
Richard: As far as I can see the image is sRGB, compressed bits/pixel 8. I have no idea what that means.

DS seems a fair bit slower generally than it was a week or two ago, any way of checking why?

I wonder if the file pathname is too long? Does DAZ surface tab have a limit for that?

But I've used the texture and others from the same folder before, so I don't think that's the problem (although that was in a different version of DS, so things could have changed.)
