    No can do I'm afraid!

You have just supplied a thread for loads of cat pictures, among other things :)

Do we really want the New Users to know what happens to abandoned threads?

Seriously, though, up until recently DAZ Studio didn't have its own product page in the store listings, even though Studio is (presumably) the star attraction around here. Meanwhile the DAZ Studio Developer Kit did have a product page, causing me enormous confusion anyway.

Just for the record, which are the current pages for Studio and the Developer Kit, respectively?

Why does the subject line of this thread not refer to "cat pictures"?

Also, where are the cat pictures?

It is what we call an abandoned (or loose) thread because the OP removed his original query. Cat pictures are posted byt the members who stumble on to to thread and decide to add their contribution to it.

My original request was due to irritation that you can't actually "buy" DAZ Studio 4.7 in the store. Instead of giving you a regular product page with the option of adding it to your shopping cart, you are asked to register/log in (despite already being logged in!) and then you are basically forced to download DIM (which I don't want!).

At no point do you just get a simple download link for the Studio 4.7 install file.

This kind of heavy handed behaviour really pisses me off. (you WILL use DIM!!)

Eventually I discovered that v 4.7 had replaced v 4.6 in my list of past purchases (not sure how anyone is supposed to guess that!). So it seems like the store records simply that you have 'bought' DAZ Studio (irrespective of version) and then simply updates your download link each time a new version is released.

This strikes me as both counter-intuitive and cumbersome. Why DAZ Studio can't simply have a regular product page like it used to is beyond me!

There is always a thread posted in the Commons like this one : http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/48862/ which announces the latest updates to DAZ Studio.

The Product Update section in the Ready to Download tab has all of the latest updates to any DAZ 3D products, that is one of the big advantages of DIM.

You cannot be forced to use it, but it is an excellent piece of software, and I can't see any reason why not to use it. You can use DIM simply as a downloader, and install the ZIP files your self, with the added advantage that you will always have the latest updates available to you in DIM.

You are also not forced to install to any particular location, you can tell DIM where you want products installed to, and it will do the rest, saving a lot of time.

What reasons do you have for not wanting to use DIM, as the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages in my opinion.?

The vast majority of my content doesn't come from DAZ, so I just want to be able to store all my ZIPs or EXEs in the same way. I don't want to be forced into just using a special system for a small part of my content.

But I still don't see why DAZ Studio is the only product without a product page and the ability to just "add to cart" - what could possibly be wrong with that?
