Is a Clean install possible?

I can find no way to re install DS4.7 that is completely clean as it would be for a new user. It has to be possible surely, if it is, can anyone tell me how please...
One reason for doing this is that somehow the categories tab is missing, and another, i have no smart content. Mind you i never did get to grips with smart content anyway, so maybe being painted to some tuition for this might be handy too.
Anyway, the main issue is to be able to install a totally clean version of DS4.7, so any help would be much appreciated...

Can't help with a clean install. There is no simple way to do it that I know off, just going through the Registry (which is fraught with danger as I'm sure you know)

If Categories is missing, then it is likely that Products is missing as well? Both them, and Smart Content are handled by the database system, and it has to be running before these options will work properly.

The old way of using the db system was Valentina/CMS, but that has been replaced by the less problematic PostgreSQL db system. In DIM, there is an option to install PostgreSQL, did you run these programs to install it, and transfer over the old Valentina db to the new one?

Since PostgreSQL gives very few problems, I will assume that you are still using Valentina. Go to Start > All Programs > DAZ 3D and see if you can start the Content Management Service (CMS) form there. PostgreSQL does not use CMS.

Almost every time i find a new and complex set of things to get this old head around, maybe it will help stop the ageing process...hehe.
I had no idea what Valentina was or what PostgreSQL is, but i installed the latter thro DIM and now have categories available to me. Next thing is to find out how to sort content into categories, trial and error may be quicker than searching for a way on google...
Oh and i should say i am very grateful for the help your providing, thank you

Did you run the conversion program inside DIM as well? It is called 'PostgreSQL CMS From Valentina CMS Conversion' and it transfers all the data over to the new db.

If you did that, and still no Smart Content, then go to the Content Library pane drop-down menu, select Content DB Maintenance, and from the window that pops up, select Re-import Metadata, that should fix it hopefully.

I had to re import meta data which was simple enough and now smart content works too.
    Thank you so much.
As its cold here and i don't have any work to do for about a week I'm going to try and get this mess sorted...
a week should be enough, well maybe not!!!!

    Good luck!

Not so bad here today, about 6 or 7 degrees, much better than yesterday at any rate.
