Render Animation - How can I see the render in progress?

Hi All,
When rendering still image, I can see the progress while rendering.

But when I render sequence images (animation) I don't have the Render Window appear at all.
How can I see my render preview in progress?

As far as I know this is not possible.

You can open the folder where the image series is being saved and look at/flip through the images already rendered. You can't see the one currently being rendered.
