Backdrops

Are we able to bring in wallpapers to use as backdrops in 4.7? If so, what is the procedure? I can't find anything in the tutorials or in the tool bars.

Thanks

Moved to New User Help forum.

Yes, but the method has chnaged. Go to Window>Panes(Tabs)>Environment, if you can't already see the environment pane. Set the Active Type to Backdrop and the options for applying a colour or image will then show.

Careful when doing this. Make sure the aspect ratio of your render/camera is the same as the aspect ratio of your picture (or nearly the same). Otherwise it's going to get stretched/squeezed.

You can also use the Options menu in the Environment Pane (rectangle with horizontal lines in the upper corner) to automatically make the aspect ratio or the dimensions of the render match the backdrop image.

Got it! Thanks! I used a plane object once but this is much easier! You guys are Rock Stars!

I actually prefer plane objects because they give me more control in terms of scale, positioning, etc.

Also camera DOF and you can't do that with just a background.
