"Clean" Version of Daz?

I've noticed that a lot of people doing tutorials have a clean version of Daz with no customizations and very little content which makes me think they must be using something other than what they use in private.

I don't necessarily need a whole other program to open, but I would love to be able to have limited content on an external HD and just use that one when I'm screen-recording, then switch back to the HD I use for all of my personal content when I'm not. Is that possible and, if so, how does it work?

You want to launch a new instance of Daz Studio without copying the current application settings and then setup a new content directory for it (DIM documentation).

    Thank you for those links!

I am not actually looking to launch a second instance of Daz at the same time as another. I would like to have my normal content library that is saved to one drive, but to be able to load a different content library (where I only intend to download part of my assets) at other times from a different drive.

You may be answering how to do that, but if so I am not understanding.

Edit: I have found a video by wpguru explaining how to open different versions with different settings. Now I'm going to try and download the content to the new drive and see what happens.

Edit 2: I think I have it all figured out! Thanks

This is not only for running multiple simultaneous instances, but instances with different configurations.

    C:\> "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\DAZStudio.exe" -instanceName ForScreenRecording

This will launch an instance using a new default configuration and save it as "ForScreenRecording". Any changes you make to it (such as configuring a subset of your content directories) will be saved under this configuration and loaded anytime thereafter when you launch DS with "-instanceName ForScreenRecording".

You can use other command line options to copy your existing configuration to the new instance first if that is what you want.

I just realized that I think you mean you just want to be able to switch out your content directories on the fly. If that is the case, you probably want to look at "Content Sets" in the Content Directory Manager.
