Daz 4.7 Issues

Hello all

I have had some time working with Daz 4.7 and it is excellent.

However have had some problems which started when my Render Library file got submerged into another. I used a workaround and managed to get things rolling again. However gradually with more use I've experienced more challenges that work arounds could not compensate for.

So decided to Uninstall Daz 4.7 and go back to Day 1...Only this isn't so easy. I have done much reading on the forums and have looked at so many solutions which have helped a bit but I've got to the bit where I am not able to do anything without trawling through the forums and enduring more frustrations. I've uninstalled and Deleted and still can't get back to Day 1.

At present have downloaded so many times in DIM that I don't know if I am coming or going and my model is not now able to get makeup but can get skin tone which is really confusing.

All I want is to go back to Day 1 and start again.

Would anyone or an expert be able to assist? I am on Windows 8, Daz 4.7 and have Victoria 4 and Michael 3 and Genesis 2

Cheers!!

What exactly do you mean by going back to 'Day 1'?

A fresh install of DAZ Studio will simply overwrite the version that is currently installed, with the new version (even if it is the same) so you would not necessarily see any difference, unless you had customised the interface.

What exactly are you trying to do. Content is not replaced by reinstalling the program, but content can be reinstalled if you have changed some of the files by accident.

Please give some more information on what the problem is?

Check the options in the DIM. I had a problem at one point where it was installing where I did not want it installing, and I uninstalled and reinstalled but the DIM *remembers* your original options, so it will just keep repeating the same actions unless you go in and change the options.

Hi Steven I'm not sure what you mean by options on DIM?

Do you mean the gear button? At present it is set at "selected path". I cannot remember what it was to begin with.
at present in the DIM it reads...content files to "selected paths" is that correct?

Also when I now try to load a scene, smart content tab > Figures > all the icons have an exclamation mark with no pictures. If I double click the Victoria icon, it does show a picture of Victoria "actor"

However if I try to load into the scene, I get a dialogue box the "Victoria 4 support folder could not be found". (from previous reading I know that if I de-install power-loader then I can get the actor in the scene)

If I de-install Powerloader then the model loads into the scene. (I would rather not have to do this) However if I try to load skin onto the model I get a dialogue box " Unable to loacate file"

This is why I wanted to do a clean install but this has been a disaster! :)

When I mean Day 1, I mean back to default as a brand new product so that I can start again. This is what I would like to do unless I learn and understand how to fix to what I want from where my Daz 4.7 is now - which is confused! I am sure this is part of being new and learning the nuances of how everything works so I appreciate I am in a state of incompetence for now that hopefully will train.

    Greatly appreciate your help.

Trying to remember how to do a screenshot at the moment but will send if that helps?

    cheers

As I said in my previous post, uninstalling and reinstalling DAZ Studio will not help in the slightest, it does not add or remove content.

If you are having trouble inside DS with content, and you are installing with DIM, then that is almost certainly where the problem lies. DIM and DS do NOT communicate in any way. You need to look in DIM to see where the content is being installed to, and then set that path inside DAZ Studio.

In DS, go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager and enter the path to your content under BOTH DAZ Studio Formats AND Poser Formats.

If you installed to the default location using DIM, you content will be in C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library, make sure that path is added as above.

To find out where DIM is installing to, check the box at the bottom right labelled 'Show Details', that should give you the correct path.

JimmyC you are a genius! Thank you everything looking good except I cannot get the hair colour onto my actor. I did not have this before, I am sure it is something simple. If you have any ideas? I do have path to content under Daz and Poser.

Steve thank you also for your help!
