expand floor grid?

Pretty simply issue. I need to expand the floor reference grid. Right now it's not big enough:

There is no way to do that, as far as I know. I imagine a plug-in could be written to do the job, but that would require someone to do the writing.

If you just want a guide for your figures to stand on, create a plane primitive that's big enough for your needs, then set its "visible in render" property to false. If the grid is important to you, you could probably simulate it with an image on the surface of the plane. I'd probably create a little checkerboard image, then tile it as appropriate.
