What is Dynamic Cloth Dynamic Hair and Content Creator Toolkit?

edited December 1969 in New Users

And do any of these plugins or toolkits enhance content creation in Daz Studio?

More Specifically How Are They Used.....Do you need them to help you create hair or clothes or can you do that with Daz Studio 4.7 Stand Alone??

Dynamic cloth: You can't create dynamic cloth in DS, it requires a multi thousand dollar program and only one guy makes it. (you'll notice every dynamic cloth item for DS has Optitex listed as an artist.) In Poser you can make a lot of things dynamic but you have to first model the item in a different program like Hexagon or Blender, 3ds Max, Modo, Silo, Wings, Carrara, etc etc, pick a 3D modeling program. Either way, if you make a dynamic item for Poser the only way you can use it in DS is by running the dynamic simulation in Poser and then exporting the result as an obj file and importing into DS. It's rather a pain in the butt.

Dynamic Hair: DS doesn't really have dynamic hair, not true dynamic anyway. Garabaldi and Look At My Hair can create hair within DS but you still have to shape and brush it to go with the figure's pose. It's still awesome, but does have a fairly high learning curve to do it well.

Content creator toolkit is built into the free version of DS, so don't buy it. It allows you to rig clothing, hair, figures, whatever.. >but< you still need to create those items in a modeling program (see short list above), The only actual mesh that DS can make by itself are a handful of primitives. If you got really good at playing with the primitives and shaping them with d-formers you could make some pretty cool stuff, but it would really be much much harder than spending like $10 on Hexagon, or spending nothing on Blender or Wings. Hexagon is an awesome dedicated polygon modeler, I use it for all of my products either a little or a lot depending on what I'm making. It's very inexpensive but it's buggy and unstable for a lot of people. I have pretty good luck with it but I think that's mostly because I've been using it long enough to know what procedures make it crash. Wings is also a dedicated polygon modeler, it's a whopping $0. I've heard it has trouble with mesh that's not water tight (pretty much all clothing and hair), that might have been added as a functionality though since last I've heard so worth looking into it. Blender is an amazing full featured program on the same order of magnitude as 3DS Max or Maya but it's free. It has quite a learning curve though. If you can wrap your head around it that's definitely the best choice because of all that it can do.

Well I have some money to buy a program like blender coming to me soon......If I did buy a program do you suggest any programs that are worth my bucks? And if so Which Programs that you can buy make clothing?

I can actually purchase something to make clothes and maybe dynamic hair this month.....

So it actually may be worth my while to Buy Poser then......I was thinking about it earlier on but got Daz cuz it's free...
I could probably swing poser on a cheap auction site and dynamic hair on the Daz Site......I might just stick with Blender this month
and work with it till I get used to it and maybe Later on I will think about buying a modeling program.

Please re-read my post above a little slower. Blender is free, and Poser doesn't make clothes, you'd still have to make them in a modeling program.. the only difference really between Poser and DS for making clothing is Poser can dynamically drape just about anything. That won't help you if you want to make conforming clothing. And you can rig clothing for Victoria 4 and Dawn in Poser, but you can't rig clothes for Genesis or Genesis 2 in Poser, you can only do that in DS.

We can help you a little more specifically if you tell us exactly what kinds of things you want to make, how you want to render them, and for what person figure.

I read it.....I realize blender makes clothes.....I just thought Poser might be worthwhile because of the dynamic stuff.
Next month I am buying laptop memory for my laptop my dad just gave me and a terabyte hard drive so I can save my
stuff on it because the hard drive for the laptop isn't that big. I'm moving my paint shop pro folder on the laptop to the new external and the
tubes and kits I download because I also make facebook tag sets and or just profile tags....I just want to branch out and make some posers
so I can save some money on buying some as well. So I finally figured out what I am going to buy. I still plan on buying dynamic hair sometime in the near future. And Currently I am working with Genesis and the Genesis 2 freebie packs that Daz has given me and I am changing the short hair to longer hair and the body specs to different specs so I can start making my own posers......

Are you planning to do things for yourself or for sale? Poser and DAZ Studio can share certain things and not others. Dynamic Clothing and Hair from Poser will only work in Poser, for instance.

Maybe a little bit of both when I get good enough. I am planning on making posers that I can sell eventually.
