Wardrobe slows down the program?

I bought and load Wildenlander outfit onto a Genesis 2 figure. It's a nicely detailed outfit, but it slows the program down to a crawl. I can't reposition a camera. I can't preview any animatics. Is there any best practices on working with items that slow the computer down?

Daz 4.7 on a Mac running Yosemite.

Turn down the subd on the clothing in the viewport.

If there is a parameter group for smoothing turn the smoothing modifier off while posing, then turn it back on for final adjustments and rendering.

Turning off the "enable smoothing" helps a bit. But there is still a lag time of a few seconds when I try to use, for example, the orbit tool.
    What's a subd?
I've tried using a lower display…like wireframe…but that only helps so much.
Is this a hardware issue? I'm on a Mac Pro with 2x3.2 ghz quad core xeons, 10 MB memory, and a Nvideo Geforce 8800 GT card. Do I need a different card? If so what kind? I like the set of clothes, but it's odd that they sell any item that would slow the program down so much.

One thing that sometimes used to kill me was if "interactive update" was turned on. For most clothing it seems to be off by default, but a few items have it "on" by default. And those always cause massive lag for me unless I manually turn them off.

I checked and those things were all turned off for the wardrobe. My workaround so far is simply to turn off most of the wardrobe items. I'll turn them back on just before I render.

Its definitely the SubD, With my Wildenlander Pose set I included a wearable preset to load the set with viewport preview SubD set to 1 and the outfit performs well for posing, I included a few other useful presets to compliment this cool set of clothing. The set was quite difficult to work with until I found this setting.

You can change the setting after loading all of the pieces, select them all in the scene pane and select the Mesh Resolution and change Sub D Level to 1. This should only affect the Sub D level in the preview pane and when you render it will use the full subdivided version.

If you want to have a look at the pose set for the Wildenlander suit you can see it here: http://www.daz3d.com/da-pose-set-for-wildenlander-hd

Thanks. That did the trick. Even with every element visible the program is reacting with Parameters…General….Mesh Resolution…Subd set to 1. Some items had been set to three. I appreciate the help.
