Daz Studio no longer remembering settings

I'm using 4.15.0.2 Pro.

Ever since I updated to the most recent Daz Studio my settings aren't being remembered. Particularly "Show Aspect Frame" always turns itself off. If I load a scene all my previously saved render settings get reset to default.

What can I do to fix this?

Are you allowing DS to close on exit or are you shutting it down through Task Manager (or the Mac equivalent)? What security software are you running?

I've done it both ways. Windows Defender.

One thing I've also noticed when I open Daz Studio then go to open a file before it opens a file it asks me to save the scene that is open when you first open the program. My Prefs/Startup/Load file is None though.

Hmm, I can't help but think this is related to my issue:

@aka214, can you reproduce this below?

Have you ever used Run As Administrator to launch Daz Studio?

I just tried that and it gave me a Permissions Error "DAZ Studio cannot be run with elevated permissions."

It was a question, not a suggestion - because it can set up problems (or could before it was blocked).

I don't think I ever have. I tried uninstalling Daz and reinstalling through Daz Connect and it has the problem.

    Try going to

    %appdata%/daz 3d/studio4/

(for Windows, just paste that into the adderss bar of a file explorer window) and removing the layout.dsx file, then restart DS and see if it is able to rebuild the file 9and correctly save the setting).

I removed those files. First time I opened Daz Studio my aspect frame was there. I then closed Daz Studio (it prompted me to save changes to the blank scene which I declined) then waited for it to no longer be listed on my task manager then opened it again and the aspect frame was gone. I opened a file then and my render settings were also reset to defaults.

I think you may need to open a suppot ticket on this.

  • Is there any word on this issue?  I am having "DS Amnesia" problems using a fresh install of DS 4.16.0.3 on Windows 11.  DS always starts full screen and never remembers my workspace layout and render settings - both of which I have saved to files and need to be manually specified.  It also forgets my "custom" content directory paths.

I am running DS from a Windows User account that does not have administrator privileges.

  • I figured out what my problem was - I have to start DS by clicking on DAZStudio.exe, rather than using my "multi-instance" script.

This sounds either like an issue with shutting down cleanly (I assume you are not force-quitting) or soem kind of system utility "protecting" the configuration files in AppDaat so that the settings can't be written. it isn't a Daz Studio issue as such, settings do save correctly for most users.
