Clothes not working for Genesis or Genesis 2 Male

Hello all!

Happy New Year!

I am having a problem that is beyond frustrating. I just bought a bunch of awesome clothes to make some steampunk male characters. Specifically I purchased The Hatter, Sethos, and Sky Scout for some exciting rendering. My problem is I cannot get it to work on either the Genesis base male, or the Genesis 2 male. Every time I drag and drop the clothing onto the figures, nothing happens. I hope I haven't thrown my money away!

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

    Hi,

What you have purchased are "texture sets".
You need to buy the models: http://www.daz3d.com/wonderland-mad-hatter-for-m4
    and http://www.daz3d.com/the-scout-for-m3

n.b. that M3 is an older legacy model. To get his clothes maybe working on the newer Genesis and/or G2M figures, other products are required such as:

n.b. One can ask Customer Support [Sales] for a "store credit" for unwanted purchases.

That could be the issue for the Sky Scout. However, I have purchased the Mad Hatter and it is not working on either Genesis male or Genesis 2 figure. The links that you posted for the products just took me to my empty product library. I thought that the Autofit would work between the Michael figures and the Genesis figures, but I guess I was wrong. Maybe I will have to contact customer support about a credit. Thanks, and if you can think of anything else, please let me know.

Thanks for your input Jonathon. Daz decided to make a liar out of me, because when I attempted to fit the Genesis 2 with the Mad Hatter it worked! Thanks for all of your quick responses. I'm still not sure to do with the Sky Scout though. I may just ask for a credit.

First of all, if you have purchased the wrong products, you can return them within 30 days of purchase. To do that, use the "Help" link from the menu at the top of the website and choose "Contact Us," then "Submit a Help Request."

So, of the three products you purchased, all three are texture sets, not actual outfits; in other words, they provide additional styles but require that you already own the base outfit for which the textures were designed. Two of them require Wonderland Mat Hatter for M4 while Sky Scout needs The Scout for M3.

Clothing for Michael 4 (M4) should automatically AutoFit to Genesis (this is a conversion process, so keep in mind that results vary depending on the clothing item and character). To get the Michael 4 clothing to fit Genesis 2 Male, you'll either need Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male, or else you'll need to convert it to Genesis first, save it, and then load the saved items to AutoFit to Genesis 2 Male.

Clothing for Michael 3 (M3) is a little different. It will not AutoFit to either figure by default. There is a product that will allow you to use the clothing with Genesis: V3 and M3 Shapes for Genesis. To get it to work with Genesis 2 Male, you'll first need to convert it to Genesis (so you'll need to have the V3 and M3 Shapes), save it, and then load the saved items to Genesis 2 Male. We can provide more detail on this process if you need help.

Sorry, can't believe I did that. Okay these are the links for products required to fit M3 to Genesis:
    http://www.daz3d.com/gen-3-iconic-shapes-for-genesis OR http://www.daz3d.com/v3-and-m3-shapes-for-genesis
[one is a bundle that includes the other]

I would have thought that autofit for M4 to Genesis would have worked too ... but it certainly can be not always perfect. The products were made sometime ago and never did anybody know what the future held for modeling.

Another thing to note about some products, particularly pre-Genesis ones...you may need to look in Poser Formats (in the Content Library) to find the items. They may or may not appear in Smart Content, and icons in Content Library>DAZ Studio Formats are likely to be materials rather than the actual items. So if you click on an icon and nothing seems to happen, you might be clicking on the icon for the materials.
