Brighter viewport?

I am working on a rather large scene that also happens to be quite dark. I have a hard time seeing what I am doing. The light from CTRL-L isn't nearly enough. Is there any way to get the scene brighter in the viewport? (The renders turn out fine).

EDIT: I would also like to know if there is a way to turn off the floorgrid in the viewport, since it obstructing my view.

You can turn off the grid via the Viewport option menu - the lined button in the top corner, uncheck Show Floor. I'm not aware of a way to adjust the brightness however.

Thank you very much for your reply. Just getting rid of the grid helped a lot.
