Stop an animation render in progress?

I used to be able to stop a render in progress by just hitting the Cancel button but this no longer works.

What other options other than shutting down DS are their?

-Rendering as an image set (jpg)

-Using DS 4.15 pro 64bit

-Win 10 64bit

-2xZeons 32G ram

-NVIDIA 1060 6G vram
