Texture images not showing up

Hi guys! Another newbie question...

I'm creating an object in Blender, in this case a building. I've assigned materials to all the faces and made sure the normals were all facing the right way. All I did was give the various materials different colors since the textures and shaders don't carry over into Daz and I'd have to redo all the surfaces anyway. I exported as an obj and imported into Daz. I should note that I followed that Blender to Daz 3D Tutorial thread before you link it. My search-fu is getting a little better. ;)

The issue I'm having is the texture images aren't showing up. The surfaces change color to indicate I've assigned an image, but the image doesn't show up at all, including in the render. I'm sure I'm missing something here, but I don't know what. I don't even know what to ask aside from "help?"

I also just tried it with the simple Blender starter cube, and same thing.

Any and all help is appreciated.

    Is the model UV mapped?

I don't know, so I'm going to say probably not. Coincidentally, I'm learning about UV mapping at the moment.

So I need to create a UV map for the model? Is it contained in the obj/mtl files, or does that become a separate file which I'll need to import/open within Daz? I did notice that you can use choose what map to use for models, but I guess I just assumed that the object itself had some sort of default map already.

I shall continue learning about UV maps and then get back to you. :)

ETA: Once again, thank you. I answered the above questions for the time being. I still need to learn a bit more and play around, but that's definitely the step I was missing. I did a quick unwrapping of a simple cube and textures showed up. :)

Thank you for all the help. I really appreciate the assistance.

A very good site for learning Blender is blendercookie.com. There are several free tutorials that take you through the basics and explain materials and uvs, for example, as well as other aspects of Blender.

Already a member. I have no problem finding stuff for Blender, it's the Daz help I have to search for. It'd be nice if my usual learning sites had something on it. I'm also a member of Lynda.com and Udemy. That said, it's getting easier to find what I need on Daz now that I'm learning the terms and processes and getting better acquainted with what to search for.

I actually started learning Blender a while back for 3D printing, but that fell by the wayside. Then I discovered Daz and renewed my interested in CG. I really like Daz, and plan to use it for quite a few different projects (all still pictures, no animation).

Thanks for the help and tips. I'm sure there will be more questions coming. :)

The UVs are in the OBJ.
