I'm looking at the 5070TI 16GB.
It would be quite an upgrade from the 3060 12GB for me. I'm not a gamer, so I don't care about FPS. I need render speed and VRAM without getting broke.
Don't know if this was asked already, but I wonder if all future releases of Iray from Nvidia will be incompatible with DS 4.x?
Or does Nvidia have a separate release channel of Iray that is compiled using the prior libraries/compiler (or without 5xxx series card support)?

I would assume this is permanent, not just this particvular version of Iray.
4.5 was the first general release, everything before that was a Public Build/beta.
The reason for the incompatibility, devs wanting or needing to use better and more modern compilers is not likely to subside. I have never seen a project revert to an older compiler from a newer one.
The documentation at the time disagrees with you. In the oldest version of the DS4 documentation page available on the Wayback Machine, 4.0.3.36 is called a "Public Release", as distinct from "Public Beta", "Private Beta", and "Private Alpha".
Here's the history I've been able to compile from my email archives and the depths of the current forum:
I ordered Daz Studio 4 Public Build on May 12, 2011. This may be when it first became available, but I’m not certain on that.
Daz Studio 4 was released on May 26, 2011.
Daz Studio 4 Advanced Beta was released on August 12, 2011.
Daz Studio 4 Advanced Beta 2 was released on August 19, 2021.
“Pre-release versions” of Daz Studio 4 Advanced and Pro were released on August 26, 2011.
The public release of Daz Studio Advanced and Pro was on September 15, 2011.
Daz Studio 4 Pro became free on February 2, 2012.
There are forum references to “a new 4.5 version coming” in May 2012.
Daz Studio 4.5 RC2 was released sometime before June 14, 2012.
Daz Studio 4.5 RC3 was released on July 26, 2012.
The production release of Daz Studio 4.5 was on August 16, 2012.
Public reelase means beta/Public Build - so yes, it was only a year (well, slightly under) in Public beta - but the next major version hasn't started with public builds yet (although we have seen soem of its features in post DS 4.20.x.x versions).
Just wondering if there will be a free version of DS5 or will that stop at 4.x? it never occured to me till this new premier membership came out. has their been any official word on that? I remember someone saying "there will always be a free version of daz." (in one of the posts years ago) but not which one.
Edit note* OK I went back and read some of the previous posts and I can see it is a complex question that others are asking.... I can see I need to rea the entire thread again.
