Content Uninstalled

Was working on a scene last night.

When I opened up Daz the following day I noticed that every bit of my content ( some 6000 items ) was now showing up as uninstalled.

Has anybody else had this happen to them, and if so is there a way to fix it without going through the long process of downloading and reinstalling all this content again.  Reimporting the meta data does not work.

Also DAZ install manager ( which I use exclusively for downloading and installation) shows all of these items as still being installed.

That is just "Smart" Content being "Smart", your content has not been uninstalled or removed.

Check the "Content Library" tab - Can you find and use the products from there?

They are gone from there as well.

That view (Products) is also run by virtual "smart" displays, I meant the real location, ie. "DAZ Studio Formats" and the subfolders that it has.

    Issue Resolved.

The problem is DAZ Central and DAZ Connect.   Though I've never used the DAZ Central to install or download any of my items, central is now a part of the Daz program, and even if you are using DIM, it will make Daz Connect the main directory for all your download files.  So when I installed an item that had previously been there and then checked to see where it was located in my computer, I showed up in 'My DAZ Connect" folder -- a new folder that had no content.

The fix is to simply go into Edit - Preferences - Content Mgmt, and move your original directory back to the top.

Hope this helps anybody else who has this problem in the future.

I don't follow. Are you confusing Daz Connect (installing within Daz Studio) with daz Central (simplified version of Install Manager, mainly for newer users)?

DIM's path (default the My Daz 3D Library in the Public Documents/Daz Install manager folder) has no connection with Connect's (default path docuemnts/Daz 3D/Studio/My Daz Connect data Library/) - if you are getting products installed through DIM appearing in the Connect folder as well then there is an issue with your paths or with the communications between DIM, DS, and the PostgreSQL database (and if you are not being prompted when you try to open an "installed" product then you must have DS set to work online, which is totally unnecessary if you don't use Connect).

    It certainly doesn't for me.
