Disk access time issues and memory leakage

I have two issues that have arisen through the six months I have been using Daz.

1) When I navigate to Smart content and/or Content library there is oftentimes a noticeable pause, sometimes as long as a minute. I have 2Tb Nvme Firecuda drive that is extremely fast, yet the slowdown happens constantly. I have assigned my C:\ drive (which is this drive) as the one Daz should be accessing, yet it keeps referring to my OneDrive, and has even saved content there though I have nothing pointing to the OneDrive that I know of. Is there some setting I'm missing to make it use the Firecuda and never try to access OneDrive? I think it is looking for OneDrive and THEN going to the Barracuda, but I am by no means a PC expert and I am just guessing.

2) There seems to be memory leakage of some type. My computer will sometimes freeze -- even the colored lights the rotate on the desktop stop moving -- which requires a total reboot. I suspect Daz may be the culprit, as I tested my physical memory and there were no issues. Is there any advice for handling these type of memory issues (I noticed you can manaully run a script to clear the memory). I have the following system:

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor               3.70 GHz
32.0 GB Installed Ram
NVidia GeForce RTX 3070

While my system is not the top of the line, it has pretty good specs, and I feel like I shouldn't be getting these pauses and freezes. If there is something I can do to mitigate these issues, I sure would like to hear it, as I'm getting frustrated with the 30sec+ wait time to look for the drive everytime I switch from the Render tab to the Content library!

Thank you!

    1) where is your Documents folder? DS uses that as the starting point for the default /Daz 3D/Studio/My Library/ folder when saving a preset type it has not saved before, or for which the previous save location is no longer available.

whata re you doing with Smart Content/Content Library - just waiting for a container to show its contents? What do you mean when you have told DS to use the C: drive - in Content Directory Manager?

    2) that doesn't sound like a memory leak. Why do you even think memory is invovled, with or without a leak?

One obvious question for both is what security software are you using?

    1) My doc folders are in the locations in the C: drvie, but were intially pointing to my my OneDrive. I deleted the OneDrive references and reassigned it to point at my C: drive (see attached). The drive issue perhaps originates from initially choosing OneDrive as the default directory in Windows, but I have since changed the default drive and reinstalled Daz. Still, it keeps installing things to OneDrive.

I am waiting for it to show its contents. When I click on a folder, let's say G8F under People, it shows nothing. After 10-45 seconds, the window populates, and I can now select one of the figures. Until that time, nothing shows up for me to select. I can modify existing things and mess with settings normally. It happens mostly when switching between tabs (like from Smart content to Content Library).

    2) I am just going on what the tech support expert hypothesized might be the problem. A graphics card problem would show pixelation or some other graphic issue and I have not experienced that. The physical memory has no issues. While MalwareBytes might be a problem, I was experiencing this issue before it was installed. All my drivers are current. One thing that has been open in at least most (perhaps all) of the instances has been Daz Studio. Given the number of times the program has yeeked up a furball, I am inclined to believe it is the culprit.

I am not a PC expert by any means, and I realize the nature of the software being "as is" as it is free. So I welcome any advice on how to solve this frustrating problem :-)

How are you installing the content?

I am using Daz Install manager for Daz content and dropping free/other vendor products in the appropriate folders. And my PC just crashed again while Daz was progressively getting slowly and wonkier. This only happens with Daz. I play several high-end resource-intensive games that don't lock up my PC and don't have these problems. <sigh>

I think your best bet is to check the Event Viewer, specifically whatever Errors, Warnings or Criticals that happen before your PC crashes.

If you're on W10, right + click on the windows icon and you should see it towards the top of the list.

As it turns out I was using a game driver instead of a studio diver with my nvidia card. Since I've switched, I have seen a marked improvement over the last few days. If you are using an Nvidia card and are having stability issues, I'd suggest trying that driver as a fix.
