Measuring and gridlines/guides

Hi guys!

I'm learning a lot by just playing around, and I'm going through forum searches and the wiki, but I do have a newbie question:

Is there any sort of ruler/measurement tool? For instance, I want to set some average sizes for my fantasy races... how do I see how tall an object (character, table, statue, maypole, bassoon, etc) is in terms of a specific unit of measurement? Like feet and inches, or meters, or hands (doubt that one's in there)?

For that matter, how can I change the floor grid to subdivide in specific units of measurement? Like if I wanted gridlines every foot, or every meter?

I'd very much like to be able to use actual distances when building my scenes and not have to eyeball everything. I'd like to be able to make everything consistent and not rely on me eyeballing stuff and then going "is the chair too big, or is my person too small?"

Hopefully this is possible. I'd imagine this sort of thing is sort of a necessity for animation, so I don't know why it wouldn't be in here.

Thanks for any and all help. :)

In DAZ Studio the grid lines are already 1m apart, you can't edit that. The native unit is the cm, so if you want to measure height it's possible to simply create a plane at the figure's feet, then translate it up so it's just skimming the ehad and read off the y translation. The Measure Metrics plug-in allows more sophisticated measurements, including circumference and angle http://www.daz3d.com/measure-metrics-for-daz-studio

Ooo, thank you. And thanks for such a quick reply.

That's the start I needed. I wasn't sure what measurement the translate numbers were in and playing around didn't seem to help much. I can work just fine in meters, especially since I can create primitives in feet and inches and it translates for me.

And that measurements plug-in is now in my wish list. That's exactly what I was looking for. I can fudge it with a primitive plane "ruler" in the meantime.

    Thanks again!
