64-bit Issues

DAZ Studio and DAZ Install Manager both installed fine on my 64-bit Windows 7 OS, but neither is working properly. Every time I click a field or pane (for DAZ studio it's when selecting an object to spawn, in Install Manager it is when I click "Queue All") I cannot click another field until I minimize the running DAZ window and maximize it again. This also disallows me from using the pose sliders.
I recall reading somewhere on the DAZ site a list of system criteria required for DAZ to be installed on a 64-bit system, but I haven't been able to find that page again. Is that where my problem lies?
This same issue has occurred with different programs, except those were designed for 32-bit and are incompatible for that reason. With DAZ, I thought it would be okay because it had an installation for 64-bit.
Regardless of the cause, I will have to stop using DAZ if I can't get the issue resolved.

By Content Manager, do you mean DAZ Install Manager (DIM)?
You should not install content to DAZ Studio with the program running, in other words, you do not need to be running both apps at the same time. It is better to close DAZ Studio, install your content, then close DIM. DIM does NOT need to be running to use DAZ Studio.
There are both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of DAZ Studio, did you install the correct one? DIM is only 32 bit, but that is all it needs to be, and it works perfectly on my Win 7 system.
Another thought, how much RAM does your system have, I think you would need at least 8 GB or RAM to run the 64 bit version and the Operating System as well?
What other programs do you have running at the time, do you have any Anti Virus programs running as well. You may need to add both programs to the trusted list in these AV programs.
Yes, I did mean DAZ Install Manager. Thank you for the correction.
No, I was not running both programs at the same time. I meant that neither of them work properly.
I did install the 64-bit version of DAZ Studio. That's why I'm wondering why it's not working. Technically even 32-bit programs SHOULD work (according to Microsoft), but DIM isn't properly functioning.
I have 16 GB of RAM. I checked the specs before I got the 64-bit, my computer can handle the OS. Running certain programs seems to be the issue.
I checked my antivirus by uninstalling it, but the problems are still there on DAZ Studio. I didn't suspect the AV to be an issue because usually it just shuts off any programs it sees as potentially harmful (with consent, of course).
I have 64 bit windows with 16 Gbs or RAM and both DAZ Studio and DIM work fine.
What kind of graphics card does your system have?
Can you go to HELP—> Trouble-Shooting—> View Log File after starting up DAZ Studio and post the info about your graphics card from the log file.
DAZ Studio uses OpenGL. If you do not have a good implementation of OpenGL, it might explain these problems.
A couple of thoughts:
(a) You say have problems with DIM for installing, have you setup correct installation paths and a path to the download area to a disk that has enough diskspace?
(b) Have you setup the content library to be at the same place in both DAZ Studio and DIM? A common problem is that they point to different locations.
(c) Can your internet connection handle downloading a huge amount of items, depending on how much you have to download.
(d) In DAZ Studio, under settings/interface, check that you are using better or best display optimizations (depending on your graphics card).
Apologies if I was unclear. I don't have problems installing stuff, it's only clicking the buttons/fields in DIM and DAZ Studio that I have trouble with. It's an odd issue. (Almost) everything installs fine, and I can access everything in DAZ Studio.

Is this what you're looking for?
Also, how can I tell if I have a good implementation of OpenGL?
It doesn't look like your system specifications are a problem. For comparison, I have an older system that I use occasionally with the 64-bit version of DAZ Studio (4.6) installed. It is a Core 2 Quad with only 4 GB of ram and an AMD HD3870 graphics card. DAZ Studio runs just fine. Although more ram and a faster processor is better, you shouldn't be experiencing the problems you describe.
There are two possibilities in my opinion:
a) DAZ Studio did not install correctly for some reason, or
b) there is a problem with your hardware functionality, rather than specifications.
If a), you could try uninstalling and re-installing DAZ Studio to see if that solves the problem.
If b), well you need to determine that first. I'd suggest running a memory diagnostic (Memtest) to ensure there aren't problems there, and a hard disk diagnostic from the drive manufacturer to eliminate those as potential issues.
Ok. I'll get started on those!
My OS is OEM, would that potentially have anything to do with the problems I'm seeing?
No. The only difference between a retail and an OEM copy of Windows is the licensing terms. The OEM copy is only allowed to be installed on the machine it came with, whereas the retail version can be moved from machine to machine. Functionally even this isn't always strictly enforced.
