DaZ3D locking up

Hello Everyone:

I have recently installed Daz3d 64bit for Windows with all of the default settings. The program is working extremely sluggishly, taking forever to load content and save scenes( five or more minutes to save a simple file with the default Victoria 3 and one light, no clothes, props, etc. It will use a significant amount of system resources and then just hang. I am running it on Windows 8 on a 4-core machine, only a couple of months old. Should I try and install an earlier version of Daz3d, which I realize is not ideal. I have no problem running other processor- and ram intensive programs like Zbrush,3dCoat,etc.
Thanks

There is something not right here. You are using the 64 bit version, what version are you using (Help > About DAZ Studio) will give you the full version number.

How much RAM does your system have? What AV software are you running?

    Hi JimmyC

Thanks for your quick response. The version I reinstalled today is 4.7.0.12. My processor runs at 3 ghz and I have 12 gigs of ram. The video card is integrated into the motherboard,it is an ATI Radeon.I just installed the latest drivers. The problems with Daz Studio persist. Daz3d Studio is the only program running with the exception of Opera Browser.

Integrated chip sets can cause a lot of problems, and I have seen a lot in the past, but it is generally with the OpenGL viewport. Sluggish movement of loaded figures etc., and other graphics problems, not with saving scenes.

It might be worth checking what version of OpenGL that your chip supports in Help > Troubleshooting > About your Video Card. I just loaded a V3 figure, and saved it out as a DUF Scene file, and it only took a few seconds to save.

There must be an answer to this, check on your graphics ship in the meantime, and I'm sure someone else will be able to offer an opinion.

What are your settings in Edit>Preferences>Interface?

    Hi Richard,

The interface is set to factory default. I also deactivated Luxus and Reality 4 plugins,I turned off every hardware parameter for the video card;nothing seems to work.It takes forever to save or load a simple scene with one Victoria 3.
    Thanks,

Reality 4 is known to be an issue when active, but I thought deactivating it (and restarting) fixed that.

I can't recall what the defaults under Interface are - there are several performance tweaks there, though, such as Per Pixel Shading, Hardware AntiAliasing (the former can cause a noticeable pause before items display), Display Optimisation (try different settings - a recent chipset may perform better on best than on a lower settings) and the texture resources slider.
