D-forms error

Is there some reason why D-forms don't work with Genesis 2?

If I select a region and try to create a new D-form I get the Selection Error :

"This action requires an item within the scene, with geometry, to be selected" (see screenshot)

It works fine, say with a plane primitive, so why not with Genesis 2?

I think you have to select the whole figure and apply the DForm to that. Then move the DForm to the part you want to change.

No, it's supposed to work on just a region of a figure too. See this video (from about 2 minutes)

Anyway, it works fine on V4. You can select a region only and apply a d-form to it.

    So why not G2?

Probably because G2F is a triax figure and Gen4 figures are legacy.

For DS4 using Genesis or any other new figure you need to have the figure node selected when creating the DForm - the newer figures don't assign bits of the geometry to bones the way the older, Poser/Legacy rigging system does.

But that means the d-form will affect the whole figure! There must be a way to just shape one region?

I thought Genesis was supposed to be a more advanced figure than V4? Less control = less advanced (in my book)

Adjusting the field size and location should help, if not you can use the Node Weight Map Brush tool to assign a weight map to the DForm and control what is affected through that rather than the field. But this is a drawback of the TriAx system, yes.
