Desktop Advice

Hey all, newbie here. I'm currently running the newest version of DS on my brand new MacBook Pro. It works fine and I'm able to render in Iray, but everything takes forever, including dForce simulations. I'm looking to buy a desktop solely for doing my Daz work. I found one I am thinking about buying, but before I do, I wanted someone who knew what they were doing with hardware to take a look? Hopefully links aren't forbidden? :)

Thanks in advance!

That is not good for Daz Iray rendering. It says it has Graphics: Nvidia Quadro K4000 2GB Video. Expect to pay much more for a capable rendering computer with a modern NVIDIA graphics card with at least 6 GB of memory. Daz Studio Iray version won't even support real old graphics cards. There are already many threads in the forum about computer selection. Read some of those and come up to speed on requirements.

Thank you for the advice! I have been reading through previous posts but hardware terminology is literally a foreign language to me. I appreciate you explaining why the one I found wasn’t suitable! I will learn this all eventually. :) thanks!

If I was in the market for a second hand workstation right now, I would probably grab a Dell Precision 7910.

Amazon has some with a Nvidia Quadro M4000 8GB card for just under $1,100 (USD)

This is a dual socket Workstation tower that can take up to 2x Xeon E5 v4 CPUs (up to 22 cores each)  and up to 2TB of RAM.

This is the one I would reccomend "Dell 7910 AutoCAD Workstation E5-2637v3 4 Cores 8 Threads 3.5Ghz 32GB 250GB NVMe Quadro M4000 Win 10 Pro (Renewed)"

    This one has the following:
CPU: 1x Xeon E5 2637 v3 (quad core with hyperthreading)
    RAM: 32GB
    HDD:  250GB NVME SSD
(This machine ships with 4x front accessable hot swap 3.5" HDD bays, and an optional 4x front accessable 2.5" bays)
GPU: Nvidia Quadro M4000 8GB (This card won't be super fast, but will be amazing compared to CPU rendering)
You can install 2x dual slot GPUs (and a third after intalling a second CPU)
    PSU: 1100W

I have the older generation of this machine as my daily driver deaktop, and I love it. (Precision T7610)
