Looking for a script / hotkey to change 3D mouse action on the fly

Using a 3DConnexion in DS one can select orbit, transform cmaera and also transform a scene item. Unfortunately, neither does DS support more than one of these devices nor let it change the behaviour without some menu acrobatics. is there aknown possibility to simply switch between these setting preferrably via assignable hotkey on the 3D mouse using a script or similar?
