If you used DIM (DAZ Install Manager) to install Genesis Starter Essentials, it is installed by default to
C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library That path needs to be listed as BOTH DAZ Studio AND Poser Formats in Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager.

I am confused about the list you supplied? You should NOT be installing anything Beta.

Can you please post a screenshot of your DIM showing the Ready to Download tab with the 'Download Filters' drop down expanded?

Here is a screenshot for DAZ Studio 4.7 showing the entries you need as stated:

Um, Rolow, you've got some major problems with your content directories.

Yeah, a lot of residuals from years of experimentation and all. To date, all versions of DS up to now (4.7) have been happy with the mess as it grows. On that note however, I think it's time to devote a few simple minutes to cleanup...{away}...Wow, completed it all in under a minute. Thanks fixmypcmike for the inspiration and here is a new (much cleaner) screenshot! [Edit: removed]

You also have nested content folders, which will confuse DS as to where the Data and Runtime folders are, as well as exposing hidden data files.

Actually I have not done either of those; each anomaly you are both addressing were remnants from previous version installs of DAZ Studio using the "default" settings during installation.

This one is on DAZ since I usually just upgrade my DAZ Studio without deleting everything and reinstalling everything manually or with the DIM. Perhaps DAZ should focus on addressing this with upgrades when major folder/directory targets for content are changed.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. :-)

I think the last time the default content was installed to program files for content was DS3...since DS4 it has always been outside of the program files folder. If you aren't bothered about opening old scene files just move all the content folder in to one folder, adjust DIM and DS to find that new path so you only have two content folders, one for DIM installs and one for content from other stores and free items obtained outside the DAZ3D Store.

As for the recent change of location well blame Microsoft as the changed things making an Public section of common folders. DAZ3D are just following MS's recommendations but IMHO it should have been published a lot better than it was.

As Szark says, DS4 has never placed the content in the application folder unless you deliberately tell it to - indeed, as far as I recall that was true for DS3 too. It was a change introduced to cope with Windows Vista and later.

None of the paths you're showing now are from older versions of DAZ Studio, and it's always been a bad idea to have nested content folders or to have the Runtime folder defined as a DS-format content folder.
