Auto Fit not working Correctly

Hello,

I purchased an outfit that is supposed to fit Victoria 4. I was under the impression that this would also work for Genesis 2 via the AutoFit. However, when I attempt to put the pieces onto my figure, nothing happens. Any advice?

Thanks!

Tell us what the product name is and where you bought it. Maybe someone here has it and can try it.

The product is Wonderland White Rabbit by Bobbie25. It turns out it didn't work for Genesis2, but I was able to get it to fit regular Genesis.

I have that. I'll give it a try and report back.

I didn't have any trouble autofitting Wonderland White Rabbit to Genesis 2 Female. I wonder if you were trying to autofit the material files (.PZ2) instead of the wardrobe files (.CR2)? I've made that mistake a time or two. Try again, especially since it worked for you with Genesis. Here is a screen capture of the autofit to genesis 2 Female.

It looks like it worked for you just fine. It's entirely possible that I made a n00b mistake. The way that these files are saved into this directory is kind of driving me crazy! I can never find anything twice without having to click through 2 folders and search for everything one by one. I'm taking the introductory training in Dreamlight. I hope he'll teach me how to clean up this mess soon. It's enough to drive a person bonkers!

    Thanks. :)

I believe you need this product: http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female . Genesis came with the V4 auto-fit (since V4 was the generation right before Genesis) and G2F came with Genesis auto-fit.

    Hope that helps. :)

The DAZ file system for old Poser V4 content is mind boggling and frustrating, I agree!! First of all, you did the right thing by posting and asking for help. There is a lot of help to be had in these forums, so don't be shy.

Are you using the DAZ Install Manager (DIM) to install your purchases? DIM is wonderful for proper installation and notification of product updates. I am a big believer in the metadata that drives the Smart Content tab. Unfortunately, these older DAZ products for V4 do not have metadata for the most part. The second easiest way (IMHO) is to use the Content Library tab and open the Products section. Then go to the letter W and expand that. Then scroll down to Wonderland White Rabbit V4 and you will see all the files for that product, both wardrobe files and material files. Unfortunately, without the metadata, they do not have the annotation that tells you whether they are wardrobe or material. As long as you are configured to show file endings (.pz2,. cr2, etc.) you can pretty easily figure out which is which. There are a couple good tutorials on creating metadata yourself. I now always create metadata for products without it. One good tutorial is this one from Slosh.

Oh, my, you are absolutely right! I bought that so long ago, I didn't even think of it. Thanks for jumping in with the save!

Wow! Thank you so much SassyWench I'll have to upgrade what I have. :)

Barbult, that information you have provided is beyond helpful. I generally let the DIM take care of everything since I am terrified of messing up a software this complex. I'll definitely have to watch the video you sent. Thanks for all your help! :D

You can also AutoFit the clothes to Genesis, then for each item go to File>Save as>Support Assets>Figure Prop Asset, put your name as the author and something like V4Conversions as the product name in the options dialogue and save the preset somewhere you can find it (such as \People\Genesis\Clothes\AutoFit\B25WhiteRabbit). Then switch to G2F, load the converted items and AutoFit them to G2F. That's more work, and probably a poorer result due to the two-step conversion, but it should work until you can get the V4 for G2F product.

Now something downright freaky has happened: my Products section has disappeared!

I wonder if that indicates a database problem? I don't know if Products will disappear if the CMS is not running. If you close DS and reopen it, or even go as far as rebooting your computer, does the Products section come back? Richard is the genius on problems like this. Hopefully he will be back with better advice.

Edited to add: I see that your search didn't find anything either. I'm guessing CMS is not running. You can try using the little fly-out menu in the content Library tab and click on Start CMS.

Restarting my computer worked. I can see that this is a very helpful bunch. Thank you all for being so great!
