.obj lights

I am a newbee to Daz, used Poser for years, and some things befuddle me. I imported a marble head .obj (created in 123D Catch) and it loads ok, but seems to ignore lights, sort of self illumination, independent of scene lights. I just don't get it. In Poser it would respond to lisght sets just as any other object. I attach a scene with lights, and the same with most lights off.

You will need to go to the Surfaces pane in DAZ Studio, and look at the parameters in there.
The diffuse may be too strong for a start. What does it import in the way of materials?
If it looks like that with the lights off, the Ambient setting (also in Surfaces) might be turned up way high instead of very low or completely off. I've found this is fairly common with imported .obj items — many different programs that use 3d models handle the surfaces parameters in different ways. Also, remember that .obj is a very old file format, so it won't have anything like the advanced surfaces parameters D|S uses; you will almost always have to check the surfaces of imported objects and do at least some tweaking. Completely reworking a surface's settings is not unusual.
Thanks a lot, I think that will solve it ....
That looks like it ...
