Attaching parts to main figure
Been playing around with daz studio again , just one problem how do i attach separate imported files.
For example, having the cgi human , import separate hair (or another object) but when i go to animate or pose the human everything moves separately and isn't attached to the human figure. Cheers

In the scene file click on the hair or object that you want associated with the human figure. Go to the Parameter tab and under Misc you will find parameters such as Point At, Fit to. You want to click on the button under fit to if your object is rigged. You will get a small window. Click on the down arrow on the right side of the button and a list of rigged objects will come up. Select the human figure. Do this for all the rigged objects you want to move with your human figure.
If you have a non-rigged object such as a prop, like a knife. You want to parent the prop to the appropriate bone. So for the knife you want to locate the right hand and under that bone add the prop. To do this you can expand the human figure until you see the right hand bone. Left click on the prop and drag to the line that the right hand bone is located. You will know that DAZ knows where to put it when you get the box highlight around the bone you want to select. You can also parent the prop by right clicking on the prop and selecting Change Parent. A window will pop up with a list of all of the bones and objects in your scene, go through the list until you find your right hand and then select that bone.
In the future you can avoid this issue by selecting the human figure and then when you load the object through the .duf files DAZ will automatically associate the object to the figure you have selected.
Thanks for the information i will , try your suggestions tomorrow and let you know if i successfully succeed :)

Thanks seems to work! :)
Hi guys , at least the hair stays attached now :), cant get another item to stay attached though :( , still moves when i click on "poses"
Can you explain what the item is and what you are attaching it to?
Just some shorts, to the hip/pelvis area is that about the right point to attach?
With clothing, you need to use the "fit to" option and not just parent the item to the figure.
Are they rigged or just an object.?
Just an object , they move around when i use "poses" :( !
Select your shorts and go to Edit -> prop -> rigging -> convert prop to figure
Then if you are using it for a genesis/G2 figure make sure you have a figure loaded into the scene then go to
Edit -> figure -> transfer utility (keep triax weight map selected)
select your genesis/G2 figure for the top left dropdown and select your shorts for the top right dropdown.
Click ok and when it's done, you can fit your shorts to the figure and it will move appropriately :)
Jordan, so when you parent the prop to the hips this will result in the prop changing its orientation with respect to the hip bone you have selected. That is okay when it is a hat or a sword but when the prop has to move with respect to more than one bone as is the case of your shorts. The shorts must be rigged in order to follow all of the different movements, hip, left thigh, right thigh.
Studio has a nice set of tools to make an object rigged if the object was modeled for the figure you are wanting use. Since you have not identified what figure these shorts were made for and we do not know what figure you want to put them on we can only give you general guidance based upon a set of assumptions. If you want specifics then you will have to tell us what the object is, who it was modeled for, and what figure you are trying to get the shorts on.
So to help clarify what kaotkbliss has provided you here is the order of steps you must go through if you are using Genesis 2 Female or Male and your shorts.
1) In your scene have G2F or G2M in T- pose. That is the arms stretched out pose that the figures come in when you first add them to the scene.
2) Load in your shorts. They should be positioned so that they are covering the area that they were designed to cover. If they do not load in that way adjust the position so that they are where they should be.
3) In the Scene tab, select the shorts.
4) In the upper right hand of the Scene tab you will see an arrow and four lines left click on that box and select the following:
->Assets->Transfer Utility
5) This brings up another box, so your source is the G2F or G2M figure, your target will be the shorts. So select the appropriate item for source and target and then click on Accept.
6) Studio should be doing some calculations and when it is finished there should now be in the scene not a prop object but a rigged figure.
Your shorts now will bend and follow your figure's pose.
If the above is not what you are dealing with then come back and give us the information about the shorts and the figure you want to put them on and I will give you the steps to get the shorts to fit the figure.
