Ghost Bones

Hi Guys,

I have no idea what I did... everything was going smoothly to the new character I'm taking promo shots of then the hair suddenly stood about a foot off of the head. I checked joint editor and everything looked ok. I then checked the box for ghost bones and sure enough there was an exact copy of the bones of the character lifted up about a foot. I have a mouse problem that is clicking when it shouldn't... I still have to change it. However is there any way I can get rid of this second set of bones without causing any damage?

Thank you
dave

Just to let you know I have tried to delete the ghost bones but they are somehow tied up with the normal joints and so to delete them I have to select the original joints I can't just select them.
This is happening with 4.6 and with 4.7 as the pictures show.

    Please help
    Thank you

Have you had a look at this : http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/creating_content/rigging/tutorials/joint_editor/start

If you go to the Help menu above, and then select the Documentation Wiki, type Ghost Bones into the search box, and you will find lots of useful documentation on this feature.

Please explain the steps that you took to rig the model, is it a model you have created yourself, and did you apply the Genesis rigging to it?
Did you rig the hair for your character using Genesis as a donor model?

The more information you give, the easier it will be to help.

    Thank you for replying.
It is a G2F taken from a base model and was fine until my mouse did something weird and then I ended up with 2 models in one... I wish I knew what it did but anyway. I didn't touch the rigging in anyway so it should have retained the original rigging setup.

I'm sorry but I am not at all clear what you are doing - could you explain in a bit more detail what you had done, and what tools you used to do it?

All I did was to morph a character from an existing base. My mouse that has a mind of its own decided to click something (I'm guessing) and voila I have ghost bones. This seems to especially happen when I am traversing around the scene or just the model. The mouse will even open up or at least highlight icons on my desktop on the other monitor. It is a faulty mouse that I have to replace but just haven't got there yet. What I have noticed by playing around a bit is that when I do a morph and import through the bridge from Hexagon and then go for the ERC freeze that there is a ghost bone then as well but it doesn't seem to worry about the hair or clothes. I have by going through the process again been able to import the model again and seen the bones but placement of hair was fine. If however I am able to understand what happened or get to know how to delete these rogue ghost bones it would be great. I have a new problem though that might be related. When I have the morphs set up and I load (only) the G2F I get the duplicate formulas error and can't seem to get rid of that now. I can load any G1 model or a G2M model and everything is fine and that includes the morphs that I have setup. I haven't checked for ghost bones on them though.
sorry about the length but if I knew what was going on I wouldn't be bothering you.
    Thank you

It's ok on this one guys... found the problem. I had to click the box to restore the rigging (for a shorter or taller character). How ever I have a new problem that I will open up a new thread or find one going. Thank you for the help that was given.

Regarding your mouse problem, if you are a Windows user and until you can get a new/better mouse,
you can go disable the left button and make the right button take its place:

Go to ---> Control Panel / Hardware and Sound / Devices and Printers / Mouse
    Change Left button to "Disabled"
    Change Right button to "Click"
    Click on Apply
Click on OK (but now it will be your right mouse button)

If you are a MAC user, I am sure there is something similar in that O/S...
