Importing from Poser to DAZ: What Works, What Doesn't?

Just as a quick, general overview, which of Poser 10's advertised 5 GB of "free 3D content" can be imported into DAZ, and which can't be imported at all?
- Characters
- Sets/Environments
- Props
- Lights
- Poses
- Expressions
- Hair
- Cameras
- Materials

Poser 8 added extra fall off zone to its rigging so anything built with that rigging won't work right. Poser 9 on added a weight mapping rigging system that will not work. Poser Dynamic clothing has never worked with DS's dynamic clothe system. Poser shaders won't work. Lights and cameras have never worked well so not worth bothering to try.
Hair props could work provided they are not dynamic. But do preview the content carefully, if you are comparing it with stuff sold on given away these days, you may be disappointed. Ask the people for the pictures as the little icons on Poser's page are so tiny.
I bought Poser 2014 in the recent sale. I mainly bought it for other things as I don't really like the Poser figures but here are a few images to provide you with more info.
First image is alysson unposed, second image is posed
third image is Roxie...so some stuff will work. Mainly older figures that aren't weightmapped and props.
After posting the other images I decided to try using the edit\rigging\convert figure to weight mapping with Roxie. Then I converted the clothing using fit to in the parameters tab. There are no projection templates to use though...
Sounds like the people-oriented content (figures, hair, clothing) is a no-go. What about the sets and props (Crime Lab, Office, Mansion, Medieval Village, Steampunk Zepplin, Furniture, etc.)?
I would assume these are simple .lwo or .obj files, right?
Anything obj can be loaded into DAZ Studio and Poser. You will just have to set up all the material if loading a plain obj.
There are easier ways to get content though. Buying poser should be more about do you need/want to use it. I bought it recently because I'm going to use it when making freebies for dawn.
I wouldn't class partial WM rigging as a fix.
When you import a Poser WM figure DS can only see and convert the parts that are still part of the old parametric rigging, that's why they bend so bad, and when you convert to WM all your doing is converting a partial general WM to a partial TriAx WM.
I keep telling people not to use that function unless you fancy doing a complete rebuild of the figure, I've posted enough images to show just how badly it can **** up the morphs.

Bejaymac, you are probably right that it is only a partial fix but the little I did with it was usable to a point. To be totally honest the poser figures don't really appeal to me anyway and I doubt that I would ever use them but it did fix the wonkiness in the legs which is what I was referring to. Would it be perfectly weight mapped? No, but if anyone was interested it probably could be done with work. Must admit I haven't seen your posts and what I did was essentially a five minute job just to see if it worked.
Regular Poser mats work somewhat. If they're regular materials, not everything will transfer in, some maps will have to be manually added and you'll need to tweak settings.
If the mats are Procedural Shaders, don't even bother. They won't work one bit.
Unless I missed it somewhere, DSON has an importer for bringing DAZ characters in Poser but not vice versa. Why is it "easy" to import a Genesis character into Poser's universe but a pain to attempt the reverse?
It's only "easy" to bring Genesis figures into Poser because the people that created the DSON Importer put a great deal of work into it. And even so, how easy it actually is depends on who you ask. The reverse technology doesn't exist, I suspect, because there isn't enough of a demand for it. It's not in DAZ 3D's best interest to make one, because they want to sell you their own content. It's not in Smith Micro's best interest to make one, because they want you to stick with Poser. So it would be up to a third party to produce something, and I'm not sure if that's even possible without access to proprietary technology from one or the other party.
