Strand Hair improperly following parent

I'm fooling around with strand hair, and I've made a hair for one of the plushie creatures on the store. Everything looks good in viewport and render, however, when I move the entire object, whether translating, rotating, or scaling, the strand hair doubles every transformation. If I translate, it moves twice as far. If I rotate 90 degrees, the strand hair rotates 180 degrees. I have tried unchecking inherit scale, checking and unchecking parent in place, parenting to the main node, parenting to the hip, etc. Both the strand hair and parent figure indicate scale at 100%. The strand hair correctly follows bone rotations and translations just fine.

*Update*

Unparenting the strand hair entirely eliminated the unusual behavior. Is strand hair not supposed to be parented?

Strand-based hair that we can create ourselves, does not work properly when parented to the figure it is fit to. I don't know why it is designed that way. Just unparent it and it works fine, as you discovered.
