Weight paint in other app possible?

I tried out weight painting in DS. It works but is not the most fluid experience.

Is it possible to paint the weights in another app e.g. blender and import the object including its weights into DS?

Importing rigged figures in DS is really a hit and miss, it's much better to rig directly in DS.
