Strand Based Hair renders weird, looks almost emissive

I haven´t really used strand based hair yet, but I´m otherwise reasonably experienced with lighting and IRAY materials.

I made a render using April´s Myles Beard and used one of her IRAY materials presets, Blonde2.

It renders really strange. It almost looks emissive. What´s happening?
