Loss of the ability to sellect body parts with the curser.

This has been a persistent problem for awhile, both in the Studio Mac OS version and in the Windows version I'm now using. This is the most recent Studio release but it's been happening with previous versions of studio as well. It happens when I have two or more characters loaded into a scene and it does it regardless of the Genesis figure I'm using. I'm able to cursor select body parts for both characters as usual and then, for some reason, I lose the ability to select using the cursor body parts from one of the characters. It only seems to affect one of the characters but not the other. This seems to be triggered randomly. I have to go to either the PowerPose tab or the scene hierarchy pane to select these body parts to pose them; the thigh, forearm, torso, etc. Clicking on any body part of that character in the scene window using the cursor, regardless of the tool, deselects that character entirely. I get no yellow highlighting of that body part when I hover the cursor over that part. It's as if I've clicked on a blank part of the scene. I've tried rebooting Studio, rebooting the OS and the problem persists when I reopen that scene again.

We have been advised to ask you to check check which view tool is active

It does this regardless of the tool which is active. None of the tools will allow me to select a body part from the scene window. None of the body parts change to the yellow selection tone when the cursor hovers over them regardless of the tool which is active. Again, this happens to only one of the characters in the scene. All things work as normal for the other character.

  • Maybe you've had set the "selectibility in vieport" to off by accident?

Why would that affect only one of the characters and not the other?

Is "Selectable" set to "No" on that one character?

Because you can set it for every single item/figure/prop in your scene. I use it often If I have a big background object to avoid my complete viewport becomes yellow every time I hover over with the cursor. And sometimes it can happen the wrong piece is selected in the scene before you set the "selectable in viewport" to off. Then it will not be highlighted anymore... and you have to find it in the scene tab to select it again.

" I get no yellow highlighting" mean you are using the Surface Select tool.

No, the yellow highlighting happens whenever you hover over a selectable object.

By default - it can be turned off, but that doesn't block selection.

For all of those body parts in the scene for the character I can't cursor select, the "selectable in viewport" is set to "on". This is generally not something I would disable. It's a valid and good question to ask but all of the affected body parts have this setting enabled. The only thing on this character I can select is the hair and that in turn selects the head but that's the only way I can use the cursor to select anything on this figure.

Can you Ctrl+A in the Scene tab?

Yes. Everything for that character has the selectable in viewport enabled.
