Please don't giggle - convert V3 accessories to Genesis ??

Am an old-timer for Daz3D content, so I do have some Victoria3 accessories in my account (jewellery) which I would like to convert for Genesis (or even Genesis 8 if that's possible).  Is there a script or utility that can do this? Commercial scipt is fine. Please advise, thanks.

You can convert clothes to Genesis 1 with this: https://www.daz3d.com/v3-and-m3-shapes-for-genesis

And to Genesis 3 with this: https://www.daz3d.com/wear-them-all-autofit-clones-expansion-for-genesis-3-male-s-and-genesis-3-female-s

To convert them to another Genesis figure you would need to convert them to G1 or G3F then save the converted clothing as a new figure asset, then use another converter to convert the new G1 or G3F clothing to the other Genesis figure.

Morphs can be converted up to Genesis 3 with GenX2 and its add-ons:

To convert morphs to G8 you would need to use GenX2 to convert them to G2 or G3 then use one of the G2 to G8 or G3 to G8 converter.

For skins, there's this to get V3 skins on G3F: https://www.daz3d.com/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-3-special-edition-victoria-3

For other Genesis figures the only option would be to convert the maps to V4 with something like Texture Converter 2 if you have it, then use the various options to use V4 skins on Genesis figures.

Using them with Iray will probably require a bit of work on the materials too.

Cheap DIY version that I use but only if you are familiar with Daz.

I have converted almost all the Daz 3 content I have this way. While it may seem complicated at first, it gets easier the more you do it.

Load the prop or figure you want to convert and then you load the base figure you want to fit to. Keep the two separate - do not parent or fit to - Use any slider adjustments available (I.E. with Clothes) when happy with the fit hide the base figure and export the V3 item/prop - if you are not happy at the fit you can use Dforms or scale as well - (I use the same folder for all my conversions).

Zero the item/prop then use Morph Loader Pro to add the saved .obj as a new adjustment morph - will show in Parameters pane as Morphs/Morph Loader. Select the prop/figure and use Edit/Figure/Rigging/Convert to Weight Mapping/ and select General Weight Mapping - now you can Parent to the base figure and change any materials to Iray if used then Save As-Figure Support Asset/Figure/prop Assets/ set the content type to Prop or clothes or your choice - then tick Content Type and use dropdown menue to find best option to match the item and save.

This can also work in reverse fit newer items to older figures.

  • Thanks for all the replies. I've taken note. Helpful !

I have converted V3 hair to G8F. It's not brilliant, but it worked. This is how I did it with Jim Burton's now unavailable Las Vegas Hair. On the left is the original fitted to Jim Burton's Glamorous Vickie 3, on the right is a G8F character (FWSA McKayla).

    The process was long winded,

    1. In Daz Studio in a blank scene, load the V3 hair and export the hair in the zeroed configuration as an OBJ file.
    2. In Daz Studio in a blank scene, load the G8F Basics Toulouse Hair and export the hair in the zeroed configuration as an OBJ file.
    3. In a modeller (I used one I wrote for myself over the last 16 years) load the Toulouse Hair obj file.
    4. Delete everything that isn't the scalp.
    5. Save this, you will need it many many times.
    6. Import the V3 hair obj file into the scalp model. Move the hair facets until they look right relative to the scalp. MAKE A NOTE OF THIS TRANSLATION, you will need this many many times.
    7. Save the Hair zero pose models as an obj file.
    8. These next steps are the ones I keep forgetting exactly how to do, so please forgive me if I don't get it right, and can someone correct me. In Daz Studio import the hair obj file.
    9. Open a G8F character.
    10. Fit the Hair to the G8F Character, and specify the hair as hair, length as appropriate. Original figure: None.
    11. Now the rigging is transferred over to the hair. Save the duf file for safety.
    12. In Daz Studio in a blank scene, load the V3 hair, set one hair morph to 100% and all other morphs to 0% and export the hair morph as an OBJ file.
    13. In a modeller, load the Toulouse Hair scalp and import the morphed hair file. Translate the hair facets by the distance you noted in 6) above.
    14. Save the morphed hair model as an obj file with the morph name.
    15. In Daz Studio, Open the new G8F hair.
    16. Select the hair, and using Morph Transfer Advanced (the simpler one that works with one file) import the morph and leave the morph name as the default name (if you have saved the obj file as the morph name). This will then lead to a slider with that morph that can be dialled into the hair. Set limits as appropriate.
    17. Save the duf file for safety.
    18. Repeat from 12) for every morph in the V3 hair. Obviously exporting the 100% morphs as different files one after the other from DS would be quicker.

It takes time, but I have now got the V3 Las Vegas hair to work with G8F with all morphs active. If the hair already has a skull cap, only use the Toulouse hair as a way to locate the hair for G8's head in 6), delete before saving the hair in 7)  and don't bother with loading it again in 13).

    Regards,

    Richard
