How do I put the eyes back on my figure?

edited October 2014 in New Users

Hello again!

I have a bit of a weird problem.. I have an old model that I converted to a weight-mapped figure so I could save it as a character preset and have my d-formers be able to affect more than one 'bone'. However, after the conversion the geometry for the model's eyes no longer follows the rest of the character whenever I try to pose it. Everything in the surface tab still works, and using the joint editor I can see that the eye 'bones' still follow the model properly, but the actual geometry is no longer associated with them.

I've only been using Daz for about five weeks now.. I still have yet to find where I can see and edit what geometry is associated with what bones. I've been looking in the Joint and Geometry editors but they don't seem to the right place. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Edit: Under the geometry editor I can see that each eye has a face group and by toggling the visibility I can see that the face group does indeed correspond to the eye. Under the joint editor I can see the nodes for the eyes have an associated selection group that is the face group for that eye. But it doesn't seem to work...

Edit2: I'm 100% sure that all I need to do is attach the face groups to the bones (each eye is separate on this model). I can't seem to attach face groups to bones in the geometry editor (there's no relevant option under "Target Group:") and the joint editor already has the eyes in the Selection Group...

Essentially you need to fill the eye geometry with 100% weight for the eye bone transforms - though I'm a little puzzled, are you saying the eyes are separate props, not part of the main figure geometry?

It's the morphing python from the store - the eyes are part of the figure, they're just independent of each other (there's separate bones and surfaces for the right and left eyes). The eyes are still rigged properly but the face groups no longer appear to be associated with them since they don't move at all.

I'm looking at the Node Weight Map Brush tool now but I don't see any face group options there either.

"eye geometry with 100% weight for the eye bone transforms" - where is this at?

    Thanks!

Edit: Also when I click around the various bones in the node weight map brush, the eyes don't light up like the rest of the model pieces do. I'm not sure if that means they're not associated (like I was thinking) or if they just have zero weight.

Edit2: I went back to the beginning and used Triax weight mapping (instead of general weight mapping) to convert the figure and now it works. The head glitches when I'm posing but it goes back to normal as soon as I let go of the mouse button.
