8.1 on 8
Now we are starting to see 8.1 characters I was curious how difficult it would be to edit data files to use them on 8.
I know the HDmorphs are encrypted but the file that references them isn't, just like the geograftted anatomical elements for genesis 3 are the same mesh as genesis 8 so copying and editing morphs to point to that file is possible as the same mesh.
I don't know if the UV map and surface differences would prevent this.
Textures one can use map transfer so less of a problem.
I am curious if I can actually use an 8.1 obj export to add a HDmorph shape in Carrara with Philemo's plugin too as that does use UV projection and subdivision to do it's magic, not curious enough to shell out money for a character to test it though .

You could export the 8.1 figure at base resolution and load that as a new UV set for 8.0, but you would then need to split the head/body group in two or the maps would overlap. At that point what would you be gaining over using 8.1 itself?
well for a start being able to use it in D|S 4.11 to actually render it as an animation in iray in a reasonable time on my rig without an RTX card with other morphs such as visemes and expressions not just its own.
4.15 public beta in Filament just wouldn't do it justice
and don't get me started on autofitting clothes in 4.15 ...
BTW 8.1 works exactly the same as 8 as an FBX export so no issues in other software such as iClone for example but is base resolution as FBX doesn't support subdivision,
believe it or not I am actually wanting to render in DAZ studio for once. not just single images.
I do use the 4.15beta but it's buggy as hell on my Nvidia rig and slow as molasses on my CPU rig.
All this will remain hypothetical until I actually buy an 8.1 character which I am in no hurry to ...
I think you can use G8.1 in older versions of DS with G8 morphs if you copy the morphs manually from G8 morph folders to G8.1 morph folders.
DS 4.15 just reads the morph folders for both generations automatically for G8.1.
that's good to know, I guess I can test it with the new HD expressions included in the base
