batch rendering

So basically I've created 40 scenes(characters in different outfits) and created 113 poses. I need pictures f each individual character on all 113 poses, so I'd apply every pose to each scene and render them making a total of 4520 pictures. Applying every pose on one scene takes me awhile, so doing it to every other scene would not be practical for me .Is there a way to apply every different pose to every different scene and render them to get ever possible combination?
would getting luxrender or reality allow me to do this?
Thanks

Interesting problem. The first question would be, Why do you need a picture of each of the characters in each of the poses? The conventional way of presenting these would be to have a standing pose of each character and then all the poses represented by a greyed neutral figure. So 40 + 113 = 153 renders. Still quite a lot, but doable.

If you want to go the whole hog I could be mischievous and suggest that for each pose you would need several angles to get a proper sense of the dynamics of each pose, but I won't!

Luxrender or Reality is really not the way to go here. Good quality Reality renders would take several hours each, perhaps upwards of ten. Some people run these renders for days. So if all of your 4520 pictures were to be given the ten-hour treatment, that's 45,200 hours, or 1883 days, or over 5 years non-stop rendering!

I would go for the 40 + 113 option. Create a simple, neutral background, simple lighting (main light + fill light). Load your figure, then one at a time load either the outfit or the pose and do a quick medium-sized, medium quality render which could take only a few minutes each. A solid afternoon's work, I would say.

I'm doing this to make several visual stimuli for a psychology experiment on memory, which requires a large data base of stimuli, so I can randomize them for each participant. and gives me more flexibility.
They don't need to be great quality renders and just requires a front side picture shot and require the different outfits I've assigned so participants can distinguish one character from another, as opposed to only neutral grey figures. In fact I'm satisfied with the low quality rendering , but it would be a nightmare to render every picture.. It took me an hour to manually render one character under every pose.

I might have an solution to my problem which requires screen capturing on a fixed area and auto saves it as I apply the poses. Do you know how to remove the grey box that surrounds the character?

    Thank's for the help

Why not set it up as an animation, then render the whole animation, output each frame as an individual image.

There is something called Batch Render for DAZ Studio 4 and RIB which looks like it will do the rendering automatically, but only after you have saved the scene files. There is a PDF manual here. So for each of the outfits you would set the pose and save the scene (Ctrl+Shift+S). If you get a rhythm going it will probably take you about 10 - 15 minutes per outfit.

And I'm not sure I know what you mean by the grey box. Can you post a screen shot?

I have Batch Render for DAZ Studio 4 and RIB and use it all the time. Batch Render for DAZ Studio 4 is a script with a GUI interface dialog that runs in DS. It seems to be what you need for this kind of project. You can load up your characters, apply a pose and do a save as scene for each under a different name. Then you can use Batch Render for DAZ Studio 4 to render all those scenes unattended.

If you want a batch render that runs without the DAZ window being open, you need to get the standalone version of 3Delight that runs in the windows command shell. You can get one free license from 3delight.com. You then run Batch Render for DAZ Studio 4 and RIB to generate the RIB files and other data for all of your scenes and a Windows command script to run the renders in the command window. I have tested this, but it is more complicated to get setup. I usually just run all the renders in the DS window using the script.

Why not set it up as an animation, then render the whole animation, output each frame as an individual image.

I was told of this method earlier...I'll be looking into it.

Found this tutorial...I think it basically shows how to do it without using that batch render script, though I haven't tried it.
