Eyes Open Close Michael 8.1

With Genesis 8 I would just in the parameters box type in "eyes open/close" or "eyes side" or "eyes up" and I could move both eyes around or open and close them with the dials.

These very basic parameters seem to have been moved or renamed.

I am aware that I can bring up the face controls but I keep forgetting how to do that and the face pose tab seems to only work with one eye at a time.

What is the name of the parameter so I can easily search for it to open and close eyes and move eyes side to side and up and down?

Is there a product that allows use of the old dials and their naming scheme to do this?

Thanks for any help on this.

:)

Looks like Eyes Open/Close is now Eye blink and/or Eye Squint (under Pose Controls/Head/Eyes/)

The movement is now Eyes Look (up/down or side/side); If you just go to the Parameters tab and type in "blink" or "squint" or "look", the appropriate sliders should appear.

On DS 4.15 you can remove the dummy/placeholder expression files from G8.1 expression folders to enable all the G8 base expressions, including the ones for eyes/eyelids.

Weird thing is, at some point, they updated the expressions for Michael/Genesis Base Male 8.1 to create versions of the 8.0 expression sliders. That hasn't happened for Victoria, which is truly odd; the guys never get major improvements before she does.

It did not, however, restore Eyes Closed or the other Pose Controls for the head, just the Expressions sliders.

Did you remove the files from both folders (or 4 folders counting the female versions)?

    The dummy/placeholder files are located in;

    ...\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female 8_1\Morphs\Daz 3D\Base Pose Head\ (255 files)
    ...\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female 8_1\Morphs\Daz 3D\Expressions\ (24 files)
    ...\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Male 8_1\Morphs\Daz 3D\Base Pose Head\ (255 files)
    ...\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Male 8_1\Morphs\Daz 3D\Expressions\ (24 files)

Please make sure you are removing the files from G8.1 morph folders and not G8 morph folders, where the functioning ones are stored.

Wow PerttiA, this goes a bit over my head in places but if I read it many times it may click. :)

Do I delete, copy or cut the files in these folders where from and where to?

I am not sure I understand what dummy/placeholder files are?

Do I just need to delete some files or copy others?

Will this possibly cause other things to not function?

I assume the files are pointers to the morphs.

Can you possibly detail this process a bit further? Thanks. :)

With the introduction of G8.1, DAZ added the base figures to "Genesis 8 Starter Essentials" and on DS 4.15 the G8.1 figures read not only the G8.1 morph folders but also the G8 morph folders, thus making it possible to use all the G8 characters and morphs on G8.1

For some yet unknown reason, they have added dummy/placeholder files to G8.1 morph folders, which are named the same as G8 equivalents, but having no function specified inside the files - When DS sees these dummy files, it overrides the base expressions and facial movements of G8 and there will be no dial for them for G8.1.

Ok, G8.1 has some base expressions of it's own, but... Quite a lot of PA made expressions are using the G8 base expressions for their effect and when those G8 base expressions cannot be found, tose expressions will do nothing, even though the dials for them can be found on G8.1.

When the dummy files are removed from G8.1 morph folders, the G8 base expressions and facial movements can be found on G8.1 and they will be working, as well as all the PA made G8 expressions start working too.

Just delete the files - They can always be installed back with the Genesis 8 Starter Essentials in the highly unlikely event that they would ever be needed.

Thanks for clarifying that process PerttiA. I will move them into dummy backup folders outside of the Daz directory tree rather than delete them, just in case they ever become useful or necessary. Your explanation is very good, thank you!
