I can't ever seem to get it right and its so frustrating. It either doesn't show up at all, or show up with missing files. This is the directory I am supposed to unzip Daz content to right? Or is there an extra step necessary?
C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library

I have an old video I did quite some time ago, shows you were each folder goes.
Also you don't have to go to C:/Users/Public/Documents/Daz3D/Studio/ My Library.....every time you want to go to that folder. Just open any folder and look at the list on the left, there's Documents right there, click on DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library and you're all set.
Ok, so what about the "people" folder? There is no people folder in my Daz. Do I send it to the "character" folder?
It depends on the contents of the zip, as people who produce things sometimes zip the parent folder. What I usually do is unzip it to a temporary location. Then I look at the folder structure. If it contains something like \My Daz 3D Library or or \Content, I then go *into* that folder, copy everything and paste into the above location. You're looking for matching folder structure, essentially, e.g. the folder contains \data, \runtime, etc. You want to copy that, not the parent folder.
I've found it to be a really good idea to keep all third partty content, especially freebees from the random sites, completely seperate from official DAZ content. I eventually even devoloped a system of putting new whatevers in sort of a testing folder to see what they screw up. It's almost shocking how many zips from wherever have duplicates of the same files in different folders, are in the wrong folder structure entirely, typos, are missing files that are actually needed, have morphs saved in the data folder at 100% that mess up every one of your characters until you figure out what's causing it. This way if anything gets messed up I just remove that whole library folder and sort it out later and can at least get back to how everything was beforehand immediately. Because DAZ uses relative paths you can arrange files however you like as long as the folder structure is correct and files aren't conflicting with each other.
Your character folder should be inside the People folder. If you have a character folder but not a People folder, then your files are not properly set up. This image shows what folders go in My Library
You can create a People folder, just right click in that area to add new folder and name it.
This image shows how the People folder should look inside if installing a character, look at the address bar up top to see how the folders are laid out.
I'm bookmarking this thread so will keep coming back to check if you need more help.
