MeasureMetrics not working

...while checking though the installed plugins I noticed that MesureMetrics had a red plug icon which indicated a "failed" plugin. It was working earlier so not sure what caused this. I uninstalled and removed it from downloaded products then redownloaded and reinstalled again in case something had broken or there was an update, but the icon for it is still red. There is no place to enter a serial number so that isn't it.
Using the 4.12.0.47 Beta.

Just had this this morning:
Go to Daz3D.com => Your Account=> Serial Numbers=> Copy
Boot up Daz Studio. Help Menu>About Installed Plugins>Paste your serial number
Reboot Daz and it should be there.
Per Richard H you can also right click in DIM on the product and get the serial number
Does your copy of Measure Metrics match the version of DS you are using? If not it won't work.
...how do I tell that?
I've been using this particular version of the beta since August 2019 as it's been incredibly stable. The plugin was purcahsed on November 2019.
Do the last two digits of the filenames for the installers match?
...the main 8 digit number or the two after the hyphen?
The number shoudl be w.x.y.z - the y and the z need to match
..where do I find that? The numbers on the three zip installers (I have them all saved on a backup) are: IM00016684-02 IM00016684-20 IM00016684-21.
They shoulfd appear in Help>About Installed Plug-ins
..OK and it lists 0.0.0.0. I also notice that the last two numbers for some plugins are different than "0.47" but those still work.
So as MeasureMetrics was released while the beta version I have was still active I don't understand why it doesn't install properly.
Did you download it at the same time? If not you will have the (incompatible) version that goes with the other version of DS. This aplies only to the Daz plug-ins, others use the 4.5 SDK and don't need updating.
...well I cannot download the beta again as I'll get ver 4.15 of the Daz programme MeasureMetrics was a separate purchase I made from the store in November of 2019, 3 months after I had already downloaded and installed the 4.12.0.47 Beta in August, like say Fluidos or LAMH, so why did it not use the 4.5 SDK?.
I was unable to download any of the subsequent 4.12 beta versions due to issues I was having at the time with the IM which left me with the only option being manual downloads until late last year whne a new update of the IM fixed everything. By then we were in I didn't download the 4.12.0.86 general release as it had stability issued being reported in the forums here and was soon superseded by another beta release. (which again I could not download manually). As I found the 4.12.0.47 Beta to be extremely stable I and I didn't need many of the new features being introduced in subsequent Beta/General Releases, I just stayed with it.
So basically if I don't update to 4.15.x.x I won't have a working plugin. that I paid for.(which I would have to uninstall, delete from the "Downloaded" tab, and re-download at the same time I download 4.15.x.x. That makes little sense.
Being that it is totally useless according to this information, I'd normally just file a sales ticket to return it, but it's well past the 30 day refund period.
If you want to use that beta update the general release and vice versa - you have two possible approaches there.
...so how do I get it to work with the 4.12.0.,47 beta? As I mentioned I tried uninstalling it deleting it from the downoads tab re-downloading and reinstalling, but it still shows 0.0.0.0.
You don't. You need to get the current plug-in and DS for one release channel, beta or general.
...so I would have to install the latest ver (4.15) which, as I have been reading has a number of bugs people are dealing with that I am not experiencing with the Beta version I am using. Why the version I purchased went from Loaded to failed status when I never updated the core Daz programme since I purchased teh plugin is still a bit puzzling.
My question is why wasn't this built on the SDK like other plugins that were sold as separate products in the store and not included with the Daz Programme package download like the Starter Essentials, Power Pose Templates, and Default Resources?
The Daz plug-ins are always built using the current SDK, and so are version specific.
...isn't that the 4.5+ SDK? That shouldn't change until Daz 5.0. I thought this was why we keep having these incremental 4.x.x.x releases so that plugins wouldn't "break" and need to be revised to the new SDK.
No, if you look at the chnage log you will see that the SDK is constantly being updated - it's the minimum version, in the published SDK, that has been kept constant.
...so, it's either adopt ver 4.15 with all the bugs I've read about, or write off the plugin and the money paid for it. Had I known ahead of time this would present an issue, I wouldn't have purchased it.
Update one version of DS, beta or general release, whuile continuing to use the older version in the other channel. You can then use the updated version for wahtever tasks you want Measue Metrics for, then save and open the result in the other version (assuming the issues turn out to be real).
...using an updated version does not allow scenes which are saved in it (even for preserving a minor adjustment) to be opened in a previous version so basically it's a moot point to keep the old one active. Also the latest beta (4.15.0.,9) would overwrite the older one so it would mean having to install the more buggy 4.15.0.2 General Release to have both available.
Again why this particular plugin keeps getting modified ach time a new verion of Daz Programme (General or Beta) comes out while others I have don't each time there's a new release just makes no sense. In the Help tab, all the other plugins I have installed indicate they are functioning, even Fluidos II Lite which I recently purchased in December 2020 after Daz versions 4.14.0.08, 4.14.0.10 (General), 4.14.1.122, and 4.14.1.128 (Beta) were released.
.duf scene files should be backward compatible, though I can't swear as far as 4.12. But I have saved a test scene from a beta and opened it in a General Release without issue. The old .daz scene files were not able to open in previous versions of DS.
As I said, all of the Daz plug-ins get updated each time - Daz has access to the full SDK, third-parties are limited to the 4.5 SDK.
...my experience with opening a scene in a previous version that was altered in a newer one results in an error message that it cannot be opened as it was saved in a later version.
With a .duf file?
...yes.
Well, I could understand features not being supported but in the range I have tried using I've not had issues - and if you are on 4.12.x.x you've probably loaded content made in later versions from others.
