Returning CGer with questions about 3rd Gen clothing and Genesis Figs

Hey guys,
I've been off and on in CG for a long time. Used everything from POV-Ray to the modern Daz Studio and a lot of things inbetween over the years. Basically, every few years I will stick my head up out of my normal stuff, check to see if 3D software is good enough to do what I want to do with it, and then go back into writing my stuff.
Well, the new Genesis and Genesis 2 figures have finally gotten my very serious attention. I like them. The issue is that because of how I've come up for air every few years, I have clothing for 3rd generation figures that I really liked back in the day. I don't know if it is good enough to work with modern figures, but I'd like to check it out.
The problem is that DAZ Studio won't use it. I got them from DAZ 3D and the installer installs it, and DAZ Studio sees some of it. Not all, but some of them it will see. But even when I try to apply them to old Aiko 3 as an example it just won't load the clothing. Old versions of the program worked with them just fine. But when I double click on the clothing in question the program just sits there and does nothing. While other clothing works perfectly.

Cool Fever for Aiko 3 is an example of one that appears in the library view mode (obviously not smart content window) but won't load.

Wild West for Michael 3 is one that doesn't show up at all after installation.
Does anybody have any idea how to fix this? Or even better, does anybody know how to make these work with Genesis or Genesis 2 models? Granted, I may decide they don't work, but some of the stuff I have has no counterpart in works available for Genesis 1 or 2, so if I want to do what I want to do, I may need these.

Can you post these 2 screenshots: .
1) In DS, Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, expand the "DAZ Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats"
2) In DIM, on Ready to Install tab check the "Show Details" box in the lower right
Cool Fever isn't working and Cowboy isn't showing because you're not looking at the actual clothes in the Poser Formats section of Content Library, you're looking at the D|S materials scripts in the D|S Formats section. (Cool Fever does have D|S materials, Cowboy is older and only has Poser materials.) All the clothes figures and props, and all the Cowboy materials, are only Poser files.
If you haven't used D|S since before version 4, the separation of Poser and D|S files is a bit trickier and clunkier to get used to compared to older versions.
Oooh....that's interesting....
Yes, my last saved executable installation file for Daz Studio is version 1.8, from way back in the day before we had the DIM to automatically install stuff. I've noticed many differences in the new version, but really like 4.6. It just...works better in the vast majority of cases.
I never considered the Poser Format issue. So...what do you mean "Cool Fever isn't working?" Has something happened to break it in recent years?
And here are the screenshots you asked for
If you'll notice I somehow lost the scene and toolsettings tab from the Actors, Wardrobe, and Props area. They are still in the other three so I can work just fine. It is just a minor annoyance that I haven't spent the time to track down while I'm doing so much other stuff at the moment. ;)
And yes, I install my stuff on a separate hard drive. I like my OS to run fast so segregate onto small part of the hard drive where I don't install other stuff. The DAZ content is going onto my very large data drive where I keep hundreds of gigabytes of space free for...well...data...:)
You need to add that path under Poser Formats also. Most pre-Genesis content is in Poser format, and even content in DAZ Studio format uses textures that are stored in the Runtime folder.
Ah...got it...ok. I will do that when I get home and see how the stuff works then.
That was not something I had to worry about the last time I used DAZ Studio. ;)
Thanks.
That does give me the ability to access the stuff in question.
Next to see how good that access is...;)
