A couple more noob questions

I want to thank you all for the help you've given me with my nooby questions. I think I've about got a handle on things but I just have a couple of quick interface questions you might be able to help me with...
First, sometimes when I get a new prop its origin is not in the center of the model, so when I try to rotate it it rotates around some point outside (sometimes far outside) of the model. This usually happens with 3rd-party props but one of the items I bought from the store has the same issue. How can I change where the center of the prop is? I'd prefer to do it in DAZ studio - I have Hexagon and Bryce now but I just started learning Bryce yesterday and I haven't done anything in Hexagon yet.. I'm sure it's something really simple.
Second, sometimes the editor displays objects in my scene out of order. Like right now I have a camera looking at two plants from the front so that one occludes the other. In the editor it renders the one in the back on top of the one in the front. But if I render the image it displays properly. I also had a (possibly) related issue earlier where I applied a material to a pot and it made the side of the pot facing the camera invisible in the editor, but it also rendered correctly. Is there any way I can fix these or do I just have to live with it?
Thanks!

You can change the object origin in a tool tab with the Joint Editor tool up. The tool tab will show a Center Point, End Point, and Orientation that reflect the position of the object center's components (center and end point may be far flung from each other in some objects).
You can use the Joint Editor tool to move centre points, the green dot with axes sticking out that appears when the tool is active (from the Tools menu). However, before editing - is this an actual prop, or a figure of some kind?
If by editor you mean the viewport, this is an issue with maps that have transparency maps applied - there isn't anything that can be done, other than temporarily removing the map from Opacity Strength in the Surfaces pane while you do your posing and then reapplying the materials to render.
When an object loads in with the universal manipulator way off center, to change the pivot point: Select the item that you need to move the pivot point on in the Scene pane, then select Tools > Joint Editor. In each of several viewports, locate (it might be out of view) and drag the center of the green XYZ-axis-marker-looking-thingy to where you want the item to pivot.
Has anyone mentioned the Joint Editor yet?
haha yeah, I wish the "submit post" button had the option to notify you that somebody else responded already during the time you spent composing your post. In fact, I should get in the habit of opening a second tab and just checking before hitting submit.
